  • I'm genuinely curious, how do you feel about parasite eve?

It's one of my all time favourite games.

  • Who said anything about Netflix giving up a market, they just offer a worse service. But hey, iPhones offer a premium service, right?

  • Netflix being older is hardly relevant to this discussion.

Maybe you're unaware, but the higher quality streams are only available on devices netflix has certified. You can still use netflix on GrapheneOS but you won't get that quality, it'll be downgraded.

This is a common problem for cheaper Chinese devices as well.

  • This actually is an improvement. Not everyone wants to be on camera and for those folks, getting pushed off to the sidebar often means they're overlooked.

This at least means they're given the same importance as anyone else.

No idea what the rant about presentations is about, when anyone presents it becomes the main content and everyone - camera or not - gets pushed to the sidebar. You can also pop out presentation content to give it it's own dedicated window.

I hate teams as a communication platform, but the presentation and meeting views are actually pretty well done compared to the competition.

  • I feel like a huge aspect that this article and the GrapheneOS developers are overlooking is DRM content.

They're focusing on user security for a user's own data, but there's a whole other side to it with companies wanting to protect their own data - think Netflix and the like who use the same systems to ensure that nobody's been tampering with the device as a way of bypassing the copy protection of their media.

Now I'm not saying I support DRM at all, I'm very firmly in the camp of being able to own the media you purchase without restriction, but my point is that it's not as simple as Google being dismissive, lazy or ignorant but rather there's a lot of commercial sensitivity at play and if Google fucks it up, they could potentially lose certification of the entire android ecosystem.

  • Let's not underestimate them. Maybe they are running around like headless chickens without a clue, infighting and throwing tantrums.

Or maybe they're researching, planning and coordinating an effective counter campaign.

Assume the worst and prepare for it, never underestimate the enemy. It wouldn't take much to turn around things as they are and it's still anyone's election to play for.

Plus you know they will play dirty, count on that.

  • How the fuck do people think that it's okay to climb into heavy machinery?

  • And as a Poly person myself, let me just say that that's perfectly okay and you should be proud of yourself for accepting who you are.

  • This makes me laugh because I work for a UK company that was bought out by an American company, who's trying to treat the UK staff how they would treat US staff - and it's not going well.

Our American colleagues cannot fathom how much time we take off for holidays, especially around Christmas. They also got a shock when doing some recent "restructuring" they couldn't just fire a bunch of UK folks.

  • But confusingly, Trump has continued to send Vance out to campaign events all week, while the Republican presidential nominee has remained largely out of the public eye. Given Vance’s low appeal, it’s unclear how this strategy helps the campaign.

Trump is going to blame Vance for the failure of his campaign, calling it now. He'll have the usual shit about dems as well, but he's going to scapegoat vance and throw him under the bus just like he's done with literally everyone else before him.

  • Because the time to learn a new operating system is more than I have to spare. I'm approaching middle aged, windows is familiar and I just want to kick back and enjoy my games.

Linux hasn't reached drop-in replacement on the desktop yet. The steam deck is fantastic and I have no problems running it stock, but desktop Linux? Nah. Why would I dual boot when I can stick to one OS that does what I want and need.

(Side note: I run Linux on my server and am quite happy with it).

  • I don't follow Tommy Robinson much for obvious reasons, but I have been watching various right wing telegram groups since they organised a protest riot near me.

What's weird (or at least unexpected to me) is they don't seem to like him either, claiming he's Jewish (which of course they have an issue with) and funded by Israel?

It might well be that this is a particularly extreme right wing group, but I'm still very confused at this point.

Either way, fuck the lot of them.

  • One of the "protect our children" protests in the UK yesterday involved burning down a brand new library because....reasons, I guess?

If you ever had any doubts about the right wing protests affecting the UK, remember they burned down a local community library for no fucking reason.

  • Surely that makes no sense. Why would a donator that doesn't like Kamala donate money immediately within 24 hours, when Kamala was almost certainly going to be the next pick?

    It doesn't make sense.

  • Your situation is entirely anecdotal. I am not denying that some donators are not donating to Kamala specifically.

But did you donate in the last 24-48 hours? If so, why if not for Kamala. If not, then you're not the people I'm asking about.

Lots more donations came in for a reason. I am asking for you to define what that reason would be.

  • They won 5 seats, not 4 but they had considerable share of the votes which is what makes them dangerous.
