  • I have a lot of monetarily worthless stuff that means a lot to me. Souvenirs from trips, some heirlooms from my grandparents, stuff like that. Not gonna be worth anything in insurance but means a lot to me.. it's a dumb take that theft isn't a crime.

  • Westerners can be so fucking weird. Some of these people would rather let teenage girls get beaten to death than risk compromising their own white saviour complex and need to feel tolerant. My family was Muslim and I've been told, by the whitest of the white, that I'm racist for saying something against Islam because "cultures must be respected". I am racist against my own people? Oh my.. then, of course, there's the other Westerners who believe I obviously have four wives and trade in camels even when I claim not to be religious..

  • Big ups to you! No "skin in the game" but taking the right side. Disappointed in my own government. Luckily basically every regular person I've ever spoken with about it agrees with the take.. Just the state..

  • I don't think birthright citizenship qualifies as a "human right" - most countries that (officially) care more about "human rights" than USA does doesn't have that. Whether it should be removed or not is not for me to say, however. It's a switch away from what it has genuinely mesnt to be an American.

Not having birthright citizenship doesn't (necesarilly) mean the newborn wouldn't have any citizenship at all

  • I started using Zorin OS just to get out of Windows. Ngl I work in IT and the last thing I wanna do when I'm off work is to go home and do more tech-related stuff, so I just picked it for ease of use. Happy with it though!

  • "Whoever knows what is right but doesn’t do it is sinning. So then, if we do not do the good we know we should do, we are guilty of sin".

Just to quote the Bible that the Republicans love so much

  • Because generally speaking they aren't that hit. Sweden, for example, removed its wealth and inheritance tax reeal fast once it was introduced in the 90s.

Norway introduced such measures with their current government and suddenly you have a ton of wealthy Norwegians finding their way to Switzerland. So yes, you do see it happening, and the more you'll increase it the more likely they are to move and take their resources with them. I'm not arguing that we shouldn't gax the rich, of course, but that it needs to be globally coordinated (which it will never be)

  • It's sad because it does have to be a global movement. If my country decides to heavily increase taxes on the wealthy - as should be done - this is exactly what happens because they can just easily move to Switzerland or Monaco, or some other tax haven, and laugh us right in the face. It's the genius of capitalism
