  • I started looking into options recently because of the IPO tomorrow haha. I won't do it because it's too risky and I'm too new to investing but I think a lot of money could be made on puts. I bet RDDT drops 50% within 2 years, I also think the fediverse will pose a significant threat to their market share within 5 years.

  • So to be fair it's not like all patents are" I have an idea and I want to stop others from using it". Many are companies submitting technical documentation that the company spent millions of dollars to develop, they should get a head start on using it. After the patent expires everyone can use the tech that the original developer may have kept as trade secret instead. Of course they can be abused like most other things but there is definitely a use case for patents.

  • How have we not started moving towards it when every company is trying their damnedest to get subscriptions? Look at new vehicles, they are paywalling features on an already purchased car, I bet you would have "bet against this" too before it happened. The problem is companies are slowly changing things over time hoping consumers don't notice until it's too late.

  • For USPS they have a list of verified hemp vendors, they tried a couple years ago to open packages suspected of marijuana without a warrant. The outcome was it doesn't matter if they suspect it, you still have to get a warrant. So now if a vendor is a certified hemp vendor they can't touch it. Now UPS and FedEx are private companies so they can do pretty much whatever they want, that's why almost all hemp shipments go through USPS. I'm paraphrasing a lot but that's the gist of it. USPS is currently and has been the largest drug dealer in the country, even with omitting hemp because with the volume they process you could never catch them all and every other drug doesn't have a pungent smell like weed.

  • "Really?! I could not tell"

Translation: you just admitted to being in the out group I created in this post so any and all of your opinions are invalid. I will now judge you solely on a characteristic you had no choice in (we don't chose where were grow up), you must be an ignorant racist hillbilly.

    Wow what an insightful individual

"you just have to insert your opinion, and insult me while doing so, because you can’t take any sort of criticism"

You are so blind, you insulted their entire geographical area and you are acting like they are the ones insulting first?

"You cannot accept any truth with what I say"

They literally said the south has its problems

They obviously have a problem with your sweeping generalizations not your individual points and the hypocrisy therein, but I doubt you have the capability of self reflection.

  • Yeah but the south sucks is such an unpopular opinion! I mean this person has been to EVERY state, every one of them. They even lived in 14% of the states I mean if those are qualifications to judge a geographical area larger than most countries, what is? Yeah OP is a hypocrite and sounds very ignorant, but their "unpopular" opinion is obviously agreed upon by the majority so this doesn't get brought up by others.

  • As communities grow from obscurity to populated change is inevitable. I used to use reddit and the #1 thing I hated was the condescending, holier than thou attitude that was rampant. I have seen it occasionally on here but for the most part Lemmy is a breath of fresh air, so I personally don't think reddit culture has replaced it. I can definitely see a strong cultural influence from reddit but I personally think Lemmy culture is significantly different, in a good way.

  • Prior to this post I was of the mind that hexbear should be deferderated, however you made some very salient points that I had never considered. I agree with your approach to leave deferderation as an absolute last resort, and to try to work things out though the hexbear admin team. I would also like to add that it really speaks volumes of you as a person to have been exposed to such abuse as being called subhuman and still try to work federation out without allowing a seemingly minority of users to goad you into an emotional decision!
