  • Yeah that's something that always irritated the shit outta me at reddit when people would say take two seconds to Google. These places are social media the point is to interact to an extent. Don't worry about asking easy questions, Lemmy has been way more chill about it so far.

  • To be fair there is a lot of speculation that the delisting is actually entirely from steam's side not sony or arrowhead. Nothing is confirmed of course but the thought is that steam is throwing the kill switch on selling in these countries right now because obviously the publisher hadn't thought this out and just straight up doesn't have a plan for it. Valve may be doing this to put extra pressure on the situation drying up sales a little prematurely and more importantly to protect Valve from legal repercussions. Again this is entirely speculation but it makes a lot of sense, Arrowhead and Sony have been pretty quiet.

  • While that is true it's not the point. If both candidates are going to send weapons and one of the two will be elected then you have to make a decision that has more levels of evaluation than the one. As much as I absolutely despise voting for someone who is aiding in the genocide taking place, there isn't a choice because both candidates will support it. The US is democratic republic but it's a republic none the less, we don't get to vote on individual laws only the people who make them are voted on. If all of the candidates support something then the people are essentially powerless to stop it.

  • While I agree, I do think that that is a small minority at this point. I just broke into the workforce after college 5ish years ago and I never had this mentality. All of my coworkers around my age are the same, we know the company is only loyal if it's beneficial for the company. Some younger people in the workforce have these pied eyed romanticized ideas, but most of us have seen too many examples like this and are just jaded. I assume every facet of my interaction with society is someone trying to exploit me somehow, because that's almost always the case. I started feeling this way around 11th grade because the education system is in such a bullshit state, and college verified my thoughts with data. By the time I hit career age I knew it's fuck or be fucked out there and loyalty is only for family/friends. I am in a STEM field, science not tech, for reference.

  • Yeah strongly agree on companies just using AI as a buzzword to make investors excited. Tech companies that aren't throwing AI in things have a higher chance of their stock price stagnating

  • Good. The ratio of fuel to energy for nuclear power is insane. Breaking carbon bonds will never compare and produce way more byproducts.

Until hydrogen fusion is achieved (the only waste is He which we need and are currently losing), fission is the only source of energy we should invest in.

  • Israel cancelled diplomatic trips to the us and other allies in response to the US not vetoing the UN cease fire resolution. Israel is not sucking America's cock and the diplomatic ties between the two countries are the most strained they have been since Israel has been a country.

  • It's honestly more that investing in a company that hasn't been profitable for 20 years and has had the CEO admit they don't know how to properly turn a profit doesn't strike me as a good investment.

I'm not saying you should get out, your money is your business of course but you may want to look at how other IPOs performed immediately after release. The ones I know of are CRSR(CORSAIR GAMING), OLPX(OLAPLEX), and RR(RICHTECH ROBOTICS). All three of these spiked dramatically up after the initial offering, then crashed to less than half the price of the initial offering ( except CRSR which is at offering price currently).

Now these aren't the same industries of course so things could differ but I would be surprised if it did. The selling of data for LLMs(AI) is very limited IMO mainly because the more AI generated content reddit has the worst the model will be for the LLMs and AI content is pretty high right now. RDDT just does not have good fundamentals for an investment, public sentiment is super low already and now viable alternatives are popping up like lemmy. I am also sure that now they are public reddit will only get shittier for the user leading to a lost base.

I am not a financial advisor, this is just my opinion. I would personally get out relatively soon after you capture some profits and not look back. Again I'm not trying to tell you what to do but I would strongly consider these things. Best of luck and I hope you get some nice gains from it!

  • Of course there are a zillion non religious ways, look at Buddhism!

No they are the same, there are a zillion non religious ways to abuse people the same way religion does.

I come to lemmy for engagement on topics I find interesting, if no one gave their two cents what would be the point of the site?

I also never implied you have to use religion, I think it can work great for some people but It's not for everyone. Like you said people can have a great moral compass without religion! I just try to not be evangelically for one side or another. I think the logic behind atheism should always be around and people should be exposed to that, I also think the faith behind religion should always be around and people exposed to it. By exposed I specifically mean publicly available and not suppressed by society or legislation. I do not mean forced to participate in.

  • Religion isn't evil, people are. All holy books have rules and stories about not being a piece of shit. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of gods wraith and incest/rape or other messed up stuff, but there are also verbatim passages about treating people well, giving, helping, not murdering or stealing. The issue is evil people use these books to justify horrendous acts while simultaneously ignoring everything the books try to teach about being a shit person. I think religion on a PERSONAL basis can help people better themselves, organized religion is the issue. Organized religion always ends up in the same places, greedy, corrupt, abusive, suppressive, and it's because the leader are abusing their powers for their own benefit. The religion itself isn't to blame, at least in my eyes.

You know what would happen if no religions existed? People will just find other reasons to abuse and manipulate people, it's the unfortunate symptom of people who refuse to listen to their conscience. Everyone knows right before they act what they are about to do is wrong, the ones who ignore this feeling make everyone suffer. As long as those people exist, all the negativity aspects of religion will re-manifest in other ways regardless of the existence of religion.

I also personally think it's an important mental exercise to ponder about life, death, afterlife, existence, and the possibility of the divine. You don't have to believe it of course, just think about it maybe even debate with yourself about it. I also don't think everyone would benefit from it, but I think a lot of people could. Just my two cents.

  • Yeah Israel has been horrendous recently and did not give an appropriate response. There are decades of history and for the most part they just take turns committing war crimes. Israel has been a victim in the past, that doesn't justify what's currently going on but it's foolish to pretend that Israel has always been the bully.

  • While I do agree power hungry people will try to find and abuse power in any position available, I disagree that it's a natural byproduct of being a mod. I think most mods are like that before being a mod and many currently aren't like that. Upvotes for actual unpopular opinion.
