  • i'm really into cars, and want to own (maybe modify) an MR2 1st gen.

problem is: the german government is trying its best to make owning a car impossible or unattractive.

nowadays you have to pay 1.90€ a litre of gas and rent a parking space (the ones that used to be free get converted to charging stations for BEVs or are only for people who live near it)

getting a license has been increasing in cost for a while now, and we're at the point where it's up to 5000€ (i have one already, but it's increasing the barrier of entry)

modifying the cars is also basically illegal, i won't get into it here though. the comment is long enough.

additionally, the only political party that's worth voting (in my opinion) is increasingly making cars the national enemy and is trying to introduce a speed limit on the autobahn.

so the frequent occurence is basically incompetent politicians fucking over the consumer, giving right-wingers even more fuel.

  • pozidriv is pretty cool, but annoying to use since people confuse it with phillips all the time so you end up with a lot of stripped screws.

torx is the way to go. their sizing is odd, but it transfers torque well and is wear-resistant.

  • i played a match and i don't get it, that game is just boring.

how do people actually play this?

i have colleagues who gush over how they want everyone else to play it.

    it's just so... stale

  • yup, sadly many of the bands/artists i listen to don't really offer their music as physicals, but there's also no way i'm gonna spend 20 bucks on an album just to listen to like 3 of the songs ever.

i have a weird way of listening to music.

  • my dad has a huge collection of CDs he started in the 80s. and he's not gonna stop buying every single CD that his favourite bands release.

he rips them onto his ipod and his phone. great way to efficiently own music and get some pretty cool artwork.

so from what i can tell, no one (that i know of) buys CDs to play them out of a playback device, just to own your library.

  • i our household it definetely is. selling stuff on ebay or returning packages is most of what we use it for, and 200-300€ plus 10-20€ in ink bottles every year or so will eventually be cheaper too.

not saying you have to buy one for yourself, it's just worth the money for many people.

  • brother certainly has a good reputation, but i've been using an epson ecotank for a couple years now.

once the 18000 page self-brick counter goes off, i'll try to reset it. if that doesn't work, i'll definetely try getting a brother laser printer. i print B&W most of the time anyways.

  • i daily a Fairphone 4, has neither the best camera nor the best battery life. but it's the most repairable and durable phone i've owned.

i've had extremely good experieces with oneplus phones, dunno about custom ROM support though.

i've also heard good things about modern motorola phones, if the ROM support is there it's worth a shot imo.
