  • Value for sure, but relevance? I challenge you to find one of your non tech obsessed friends (most of the population) that is still actively buying physical media or even still owns a disc player. I don't even think I've heard my friends say the word blu ray in years.

  • Pretty hyped, even if it's mostly just for nostalgia. Even though most people agree it's 5 > 4 > 3, there's just something about 3 that strikes a chord with me. Probably because it's edgy af and I played it when I was an edgy teen but also the music is the best in the series imo

  • Yeah I'm not an av fanatic so I could really care less about the Dolby Atmos plus extreme ultra©️ speakers nor how big the screen is or if it's on film or whatever. I saw Oppenheimer at an IMAX theater with film or whatever because I kept hearing it was the correct way to watch it or whatever and it was basically the same as every other movie I've seen. And for the audience I purposefully go during matinees on a weekday so I don't have to hear other people talking, digging in their popcorn, seeing their phones go off, or laughing way too hard at something for way too long. The only reason I still go to theaters is because I like seeing things when they come out and sometimes I just want a slushee and some bunch a crunch.

  • The problem in the US is that the iPhone has a huge amount of the market and iMessage mostly does that already. For Android to counter that you have to use a 3rd party app, which further fractures an already smaller market. Or everyone could just use sms which is free with basically every plan nowadays, which gets you by.

  • Always interesting when I hear people's families use something other than the default in the US. What started that? Were your parents always concerned about privacy? Did you somehow convince them to use that app? What about when they text someone who isn't on signal, which is probably 90% of the US? I could get my family to download the app but I feel like it's pointless because no one else uses it so they would just quit.

  • Cool to see they managed to incorporate it. I like the idea of face unlock but for me it's not convenient enough. Hard to use like if I'm sitting at my desk and phones sitting on top, I need to hover my face over it awkwardly until it sees me, and if I'm laying in bed or on the couch, it won't recognize me either. I'll always be loyal to the trusty fingerprint reader.

  • Nah yeah, they definitely can, I was just saying for me that's what I like doing. The Odin 2 specifically can play up to PS2/gc upscaled to like 1080p pretty much perfectly, 3ds, Wii, and some switch as well, however the android switch emulator still isn't fully optimized. I play smash melee or a match of Mario strikers on mine from time to time just when I have some time to kill.

  • I play mostly handheld emulators on mine, with some other systems sprinkled in. Handhelds have always been my favorite systems, so it's lots of Pokemon, jrpgs on the Vita/psp, and whatever else games I missed growing up. If you want to buy one device that'll do everything, it seems like the Odin 2 is it. It really is awesome having a dedicated device for emulation.

  • I mean there's a lot of substitutes right? I feel like every YouTube video I watch there is a plug for their patron, kofi, buy me a coffee, podia. Hopefully they can compete to be not awful in the long run.
