  • Definitely not unless your group is insanely dedicated to keeping it serious. All it takes is one person who doesn't care about lore or the story or some NPC talking to rush through something or make a joke and completely take you out of it. I could never play it in a group on my first serious play.

  • I think the price is just the reality of pricing nowadays. You could've bought reddit sync ten years ago ad free for like $2. That's ten years of free updates for an app most people would use everyday for hours on end. That's not really a sustainable business model and why a lot of people are transitioning to subscriptions, for the recurring revenue. For me, the $20 is fine and honestly the $100 is too for ultra. If you spend two hours a day on sync for the next year that's averaging to three cents a day... And I know my usage definitely exceeds two hours a day. Plus all the features and track record of sync make me pretty confident in its future. Ultimately it's up to you to decide whether this app is worth it. If you think connect is better, great, stick with connect.

  • So fucking pumped to start playing. I fell in love with pillars 1 back whenever that launched and have been consuming every crpg I can find. Divinity original sin 2 was incredible and it was torture not trying the beta of bg3 that they've had for years now. But now that it's here it's that much sweeter that I can go in completely fresh. And with these reviews it looks like it was worth the wait!

  • While liftoff was the only third party I liked, I still think it was pretty unimpressive. It ran ok and that's about it. Features were lacking, aesthetics are bad, some glitches. For me the $20 or whatever it is for sync is worth it. I've used reddit since 2012 and browsed exclusively on my phone, swapping between relay and sync. If you average that cost out, even considering the $5 or whatever it was to get rid of ads on Reddit, it's basically nothing. The usage tracking is pretty shitty though.

EDIT: Ok I just saw the lifetime price for ultra, damn wtf lol. Again, averaging that cost over the ten years I've used the app means it's still a good deal but fuck upfront that's a lot lmao

  • There's definitely less content than on Reddit but I was able to find replacements for pretty much everything I was following, including niche stuff. And the less content is a plus too, gets me off my phone.
