  • Sure, if I'm meeting a vendor for lunch it would be normal. If I'm just sitting at my desk working through lunch like I typically do, it would be really strange to have a drink and I'd probably be reprimanded.

  • I got banned from an instance for listing them previously, so I cannot. There's one in particular who had multi-million karma on Reddit and started just making the same posts on Lemmy, and they're all very much pushing an agenda with ragey clickbait. Just keep an eye out on the front page for the same name to pop up and you'll start to notice a pattern with the big posters.

  • This is a creepy ask. People are using those types of generators to create fake nudes to harass people. Here's a statement from an underage victim of these type of apps:

I feel like that was a major violation of our privacy while, like, the bad actors were taken out of their classes privately. When I left the principal's office, I was walking through a hallway, and I saw these group of boys laughing at these group of girls crying. And that's when I realized I should stop crying and be mad, because this is unacceptable.

  • For the power outages, at least, power companies have mutual aid agreements and send in workers and equipment from out of state to assist in restoration. No federal government needed, they just jump into action.

That's not solace for people who lost their homes, but I thought it was nice and a bit comforting.

  • This is fascinating. We have this to an extent in English, but Swardspeak takes it to a whole new level. Something like "Sis is gonna sashay away after this hot mess." For "He's going to be fired due to a mistake."
