  • There's also a big difference between "life expectancy" and "quality of life". Being overweight is uncomfortable, limiting, and can be a burden on people around you. I have no way of knowing if I'll live longer, but my life has become immeasurably better since I went from nearly obese to normal weight.

Additionally, I think the biggest factor to control for is socioeconomic status. A well-off fat person is probably going to have better life expectancy than a poor skinny person.

  • UPDATE: The Daily Beast added an editor’s note to their piece. Here it is in full: “Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to remove quotes attributed to the owner of Real America’s Voice, Robert Sigg, saying he is investigating whether the call was a prank and criticizing network staffers. A Daily Beast reporter had a conversation by text with a person who identified themselves as Sigg, on a number public records show was once associated with Sigg—but a spokesperson for Real America’s Voice said that it was not Sigg and is not his current number.”

We had to update our interview about someone potentially being duped by fake Trump because our interviewer was potentially duped by a fake person pretending to be the person who potentially got duped by fake Trump.

    Wtf is happening here?

  • I am just a novice by comparison to many around here - aside from the built in 500GB I just have a single 5TB Seagate drive plugged in to USB. It holds all my Plex content and my photo backups. Haven't had any issues with USB disconnects so far!

  • Beelink Mini S12 Pro Mini PC, 12th Gen Intel-N100 (4C/4T, Up to 3.4GHz), 16GB RAM DDR4 500GB PCle SSD, Mini Desktop Computer 4K@60Hz, Dual Display, WiFi6, BT5.2, USB3.2, LAN, Low Power https://a.co/d/dxxV7yK

I got something similar - it takes a little bit of elbow grease to get Linux running well on it due to the very new chipset (just the wifi/BT drivers though so if you only plan to hardwire, no issues)

Really ridiculously low power draw too.

  • Dawg I am literally left as fuck - I wasn't saying it was both sides at all. I'm saying each side individually has their own reasons for answering the question the way they did. Do you think conservatives make up more than 60% of the population?

It would be like asking "Do you think the government provides the right amount of welfare?"

Most people would say "no" because you'd have Republicans saying Gov provides too much welfare, and Democrats saying Gov doesn't provide enough welfare.

Dropping a blanket statement like "This country is filled with idiots" is SIGNIFICANTLY more "both sides" than my point was.

  • God I wish I lived in a country that wasn't so filled with idiots.

Sounds like you agree with the adults, then. That's exactly the sentiment that's causing this issue - no matter which side you fall on, there are conservatives who believe the education is too "woke", and liberals that believe the education is too watered down by moneyed and religious interests. Believing the country is filled with idiots is precisely why adults in general express dissatisfaction with education.

  • Made me really sad when I learned Sweet Earth is Nestlé because they have a really good Seitan (wheat gluten) Bacon that is super tasty and difficult to replicate. But I like not supporting scum more than I like vegan bacon substitutes so 🤷
