  • They are different enough in intention though.

I intend - I plan to try, but I might not.

I will - I am definitely going to, but maybe not very often or for limited uses

I will frequently - I am definitely going to, and it will be a common/important part of my work/life-flow

  • So basically your argument is, if you don't like the gameplay loop, they force you to pay? I'm not arguing that there are idiots out there who will spend their life savings on digital crop, but you are dramatically OVERselling the difficulty of upgrade requirements. Sure if you wanna play 8 hours a day you're eventually gonna have to spend money, but. If you play for an hour or so each day, hit the events that are worth the time, do some daily/weekly dungeons as they are available, a little exploration and a little questing, and have any sense of "progress takes time", the actual gameplay is fun enough to carry without spending money. If it isn't, for you or someone else, then just don't play?

Also, oversexualization of minors is a term that gets thrown around a LOT with this game and I just don't see it, basically ever. The few characters that are actual children are dressed conservatively, act like children, are treated like children by other characters, there's never inappropriate commentary about them... if you wanna offense to the anime-style art that makes everyone, including adults, cartoonist, that's your opinion. It's weird that a lot of people act like it's a pervasive issue when it really doesn't exist at all in the game.

  • Dang there is a lot of hate for this game here, like it's definitely not the best game ever but it is one of the most compelling mobile experiences out there, with a decent story that has some great moments, and it can absolutely be played completely for free without missing out on much. The only thing spending money is good for is specific characters and weapons, none of which are required, and you can absolutely save up from playing for free and get almost any of those characters/weapons without spending a dime.

It's not for everyone but I feel like this game gets a lot of hate simply for the Chinese origin, cartoony style, and microtransactions without any actual knowledge of what it's like to play it.

  • Yeah I think people were shopping at Walmart if they were already willing to scrape the bottom of the barrel for low prices and convenience. Target was considered in a lot of groups where to go if you need big box stuff but have a moral quandary with Walmart. I know it was for me, at least. That entire subset of people was already willing to forsake convenience if it meant shopping along with their values. I couldn't like Costco any more than I already did (superfan) so I'm not necessarily going there more or spending more, but I am evangelizing them when I get the chance.

Basically I think the absolute number of people who shop with their values is relatively low, but a lot of them went to Target, and now they're not. I have certainly vastly decreased the amount I'm shopping there and instead looking for local/direct online sources of goods I would get from there or just forgoing stuff entirely.

  • Totally agree on this - I have forgiven a lot of shit in my life but the one thing that has truly hurt me is when someone I cared about was offended by my methods of expressing concern to them about their behavior, and they retaliated by trying to get my partner to leave me.

Despite the fact that it was a laughable attempt, the intention to actually hurt me, not just accidental toe-stepping or expression of frustration, is what drew a line for me.

I will forgive unintentional damage followed by remorse, I will forgive outbursts and emotional interaction, but actively trying to hurt someone is the behavior of an adversary.

  • Same here, the Plex app was super heavy on a lot of my devices and would slow them to a crawl. Jellyfin is lean and runs well even on my slow smart projector. It does everything I need it to and more. I also got sick of Plex trying to shove their content and rentals and streaming services down my throat. Couldn't be happier with Jellyfin.

  • I think you could sell it by being very vague and not claiming it actually does anything.

As an example, just rattle off a bunch of insanity as necessary to convince idiots that you "get it" like "keep your blood pure", then do what lots of supplements do with super vague meaningless claims like "Contains Iron which essential for your blood to function properly"
