The list of shitty litrpg I've read is longer than the good ones for sure lol. Chrysalis is awesome, dude dies and comes back as an ant. Sounds silly and it is but it's great fun watching this ant level up. Think the author is called Rhynoz
They're talented I'll admit that but I hate them. Can't remember much but I'll never forget him saying, you can take any 4 chords then throw a 7th on the end and bam! You're Paul McCartney, congratulations lol.
So for superhero type movies I actually like I'll go with Unbreakable series. No CGI fest, just good characters and acting.
Kill Bill I don't have a good comparison because I'm not into that type of movie but for revenge style films I'll say Old Boy, maybe Memento but that's a weird one but still good IMO.
The Crow was to cringe for me but I really liked Dark City which was equally cringe but pulled it off so much better with the same dark mystique of the crow.
TV shows - I'll argue to the death the Frasier is one the best written and acted series of all time and we will never get a show that clever again. I've watched it through 10+ times and every time I notice more small things that blow my mind about how well fleshed out these characters are. Same for Bojack horseman, that shit is pure genius. If you haven't watched it do so immediately. Mr Robot was also an awesome show with tons of great acting and plot.
Music, I admittedly don't have the best taste in, I grew up in the punk scene but outside of punk my favorites are modest mouse, Primus, Rx Bandits, Incubus (older stuff) and others I can't think of at the moment. Punk stuff my taste was mostly 90s skate type like Lagwagon, NOFX, strung out, propagandhi, bigwig. Some don't consider Bracket punk, myself included, but they are deceivingly talented. Think folk-punk with a beach boys singing style, really good shit.
Books are my main thing but I have horrible taste in those. I'm addicted to shitty sci-fi and litrpg even though I'm not a gamer.
The Bobiverse by Dennis Taylor is one of my fav.
Dungeon Crawler Carl series is fantastic for litrpg. Audiobooks all the way on those.
Blindsight by Peter Watts
Other authors I can't go wrong with - Blake Crouch, Andy Weir, Exurb1a, Cixin Liu (prolly spelled that wrong), some of William Gibson stuff but not all, Dan Sugralinov (Russian litrpg), Greg Egan.
I'll gladly tell you more if you like. I'd gladly take your recommendations as well.
Dude made a tire have an amazing performance. Just shows how important the art is behind making a film vs what name is on the screen. Poor film making could make the best actor suck but if you're truly talented you can make any actor, no matter how shitty, seem amazing. It's def an acquired taste but I'd argue whether you like it or not you can't deny the genius.
Any marvel movie. I just do not get the appeal. The only people who like it seem to like it way too much. Most of them are also grown ass children.
Kill Bill. Boring as fuck.
The Crow. I refuse to elaborate.
Pretty much anything from Kevin Smith except Mallrats and even that I'll admit was dumb but I liked it as a young teenager.
Deadpool. Juvenile humor from the king of "I'm in a movie because I'm unbelievably charming"
Not a movie (well maybe there is one?) but I absolutely hate The Trailer Park Boys. I just don't get it. It's not funny, at all. It's not my thing at all. I've been hated on for this opinion but I don't care, it sucks.
On that same note, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Same reason tpb sucks to me.
Lord of the rings. So boring.
This thread is fun though. I enjoyed reading everyone's opinions, especially those I disagree with.
The book was def a fun light read but the movie couldn't even legally approach the same level of fun as the book due to licensing bullshit. It could've been a fun movie, and if I'm being honest I enjoy watching it from time to time, but it could've been so much better.
I'd have never seen it if you hadn't said this. I didn't know what the fuck I was looking at.
