Grassroots Governance in China | Documentary

Police, however, said the claim that “800 yuan in wages were owed” was false, and that the company was in the process of approving payment of 5,370 yuan in wages. It blamed the factory fire on the arsonist’s suicidal thoughts, and said police would deal strictly with those spreading rumors.

  • The other side is:

    • it challenges you to formulate your disagreement
    • if the community holds awful takes they never get exposed to a differing opinion (although moderation can do that too)
    • there's people out there that believe: more upvotes = more true and Formulate their opinions based on that
    • "dunking" and "ratio" only work if the content of the comment/criticism is valid. Otherwise its just showing your ass
  • I've seen countless good comments downvoted on reddit and .world with no engagement whatsoever just because it didn't fit passing lurkers worldview, but is otherwise factually correct. Forcing you to comment instead of downvote, let's lurkers vote based on the content of the comment (obv this lays a burden on moderation, but is worth the tradeoff as it can foster really good discussions and higher understandong of the topic at hand)

Mainly because regardless of the vote being cast as that vs a general “I disagree”, it’s still an indication of disapproval of the commenter.

Here's the disagreement: one is a disagreement that allows you to vent without challenging yourself, the other is a disagreement where you know what the disagreement is about

  • Russia is a shit hole and has failed in every type of government they’ve ever had.

The soviets found themselves in a feudal shithole, and elevated it to a global super power.

China was also doing no better before “communism”.

Not sure who claims that China is communist, but it's definitely not the chines. They have a market socialist system (or more accurately SWCC), which still has class society and its own contradictions.

Educate yourself on basic facts before you speak on a topic and stfu until you do so shitlib

  • I think China and other countries should build a bunch of embassies disguised as Business development bureaus in eastern Germany and supply them with weapons and violate the One Germany principle. The only reason acountries don’t recognize eastern Germany is because the German federal government will diplomatically retaliate.

    China’s inability to make allies

What is Brics ? What's the BRI?

    countries choose the US

Coerced to choose the US. Like ASML made a killing seeling their machines to China until the US pressured them not to

It’s like Putin crying about NATO on it’s borders but at the same time giving those old soviet satellite states more and more reasons to join NATO. And then blaming NATO for the consequences of his own bad behaviour.

NATO is a market for privately owned weapons manufacturers and thus subject to market forces like the drive to expansion and lobbying by those groups. Did you check Rheinmetalls stock, naziboy?

  • Communities that go against hegemonic capitalist/imperialist discourse will always get marginalised. Not being able to take down those communities easily like on Reddit is a huge win by itself for Lemmy. The software offers a valuable savehaven for e.g ex r/chapotraphouse, r/genzedong etc.

  • She's the only candidate, aside from cornel west, that didn't ran a genocide platform. Also advocates for decent policies like free education, healthcare and a green/sustainable economy.

If you're going by accomplishments: Id rather have someone with what in your eyes are no accomplishments then the known accomplishment of facilitating genocide and increasing geopolitical tensions that blue and red maga brought onto the table
