  • I'm saying that info is readily available to doctors in real life. They are literally in the hospital and know what the socioeconomic background of the patient is. In real life they would be able to guess the same.

  • Biopsies are small but still invasive. There's risk of infection or reactions to anesthesia in any surgery. If 100 million women get this test, a 5% false positive rate will mean 5 million unnecessary interventions. Not to mention the stress of being told you have cancer.

5 million unnecessary interventions means a small percentage of those people (thousands) will die or be harmed by the treatment. That's the harm that it causes.

  • That's actually really smart. But that info wasn't given to doctors examining the scan, so it's not a fair comparison. It's a valid diagnostic technique to focus on the particular problems in the local area.

"When you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras" (outside of Africa)

  • There are cultural differences between Afro-Caribbean people and "black" (ADOS) Americans. The trump fans might be trying to use that to drive a wedge in the Democratic Party.

But that's like the difference between Scottish and Irish people. They are basically the same in English history, lesser people to be conquered. Meaningless when it comes to racism.

  • Well, no. He's been floundering since he fucked up COVID. That was something he could bluster his way through. Republicans could see their friends and family dying.

That's why he lost. He's bad at being president. Plus old and weird.

  • there is no way she would have let Trump walk all over her like that

I have good news for you then: Kamala Harris is a former prosecutor who eats criminals like trump for breakfast. That's why her campaign clearly doesn't give a fuck.

Biden didn't give a fuck either. That's why he won in 2020 with "Will you shut up man?"

  • It sounds like you just don't understand how hard photography was in the 1920s. Cameras were heavy, even the film was heavy. Carrying it all the way there is already an accomplishment. Plus, the film plates were glass and could break on the way back, ruining a photo.

He only had like 50 shots on a trip. He spent days or weeks setting up the exact timing and location for a specific shot. You have to get it right the first time and you can't see the end result until you develop the picture. It's like saying, "Anyone can shoot a basketball. LeBron James isn't anything special." Technically true, but obviously meaningless.

  • Doesn't matter if it's an uncle, dad, mom, grandpa or grandma; always be relentless with this message and have no room for sympathy or forgiveness.

Uh, no. It's not popular to admit this, but being nice is much more persuasive with people who already like you. If you go nuts on them, they will just think you are crazy.

If you say "I think trump is too old and crazy / weird" they will listen. If they ask "Do you like trump?" just say "no" and laugh at the very idea of voting for him. That's why "He's weird" is working.

  • $1.2 billion would be a very small bank. But also, that money is not able to be used by Starbucks. It's not "earned" yet. I don't know the details on what they can invest it in, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has to just sit in a bank account earning very little.

Even a small bank would be able to invest the money much better.

  • But he was doing poorly. Newsweek has fallen off in quality, but so have lots of other papers too. The friggin New York Times was running articles about how trump was amazing and so much more vibrant than Biden. They had a big op-ed focusing on just Biden stepping down from the campaign, completely ignoring trump's failings.

Now it's obvious that they just wanted to cover a Democratic primary horse race. Trump is clearly just as slow as Biden, compared to Kamala.

  • The funny thing is, lots of luxury goods are not priced based on costs, but on demand. That means that if the rich get lower taxes, the values of expensive art and fine wines just go up to match the extra money they have. They can't buy more.

It's the opposite with things the middle class needs. If more people can afford a washing machine, costs can actually decrease because of better manufacturing. There are many washing machine manufacturers, so there's actually some competition.

  • "Brown people"? There are plenty of brown people around the world who don't practice arranged marriage. Also, it was very common in Europe prior to the Enlightenment (I may be off on the exact timing).

It has nothing to do with racism and everything to do with human rights, as the other person said.

  • No, that's dumb. There's no way this would actually pass any time soon, so it's better to get as much positive press as possible.

    Steps:

    1. Announce your idea in an opinion piece
    2. Propose something to Congress when they ignore your opinion piece
    3. Do something along these lines with an Executive Order when Congress ignores your proposal
    4. Defend your Executive Order in court when someone sues you

You just proposed doing number 3. But there are way more steps you can take to get attention on your proposal.

  • we really didn't understand that this was a medical issue

There are more things like this every day. So many people are diagnosed with mild ADHD or Autism later in life. Whereas before they were just "eccentric" or "unique".
