  • Closing a bank account is as easy as legally possible. They are already highly regulated, and there's a lot of paperwork to protect you from having your account closed without your permission. You can literally go into a bank if you want help. That's not the same thing as a gym at all.

  • I have good news for you. You can just tell your credit card provider that you tried to cancel, but couldn't. They will just cancel it for you. It's a bit of a strong-arm tactic, but it works.

Whenever you need to cancel a gym, try this. They tell you that you need to come in? Nope, not acceptable or legal.

  • DOT’s rule also puts an end to airline runarounds by requiring refunds to be automatic, prompt, in the original form of payment, and for the full amount paid.

This is perfect. I just had to chase a few travel companies for refunds they owed me. The cancellations were the fault of the companies, not mine.

Every single one of them requires you to call some hidden phone number who tells you to download an app, and part of your refund is always disputed. It literally takes hours just to figure out how to complain.

They take your money in 5 seconds, but give it back in "5 to 7 business days".

  • Russia: Spends months trying to capture a random city 25 miles from their border. Ukrainian defenses were somehow "missing" (sabotage). Stalemate.

Ukraine: Spends days capturing a specific important natural gas objective. Russian defenses are also missing (lazy). Success.

  • Nah. Even if you are in a safe state, vote. Even if you are in a state run by weirdos, vote. Literally vote.

It worked in 2020. trump had more votes than in 2016 and he lost by even more. January 6th had no chance of success because it was obvious who won. Taking the capitol building doesn't mean anything.

The supreme court doesn't even mean anything without the consent of the governed. The British won the War of 1812 and literally burned the White House to the ground. They still had to leave because the US is so big that it's literally ungovernable without consent of the population.

  • Exactly. I would think it's relevant to mention the fact that Walz has 20 more years of military experience in the first or second paragraph.

Just present the (obviously false) claim and add "the Times asked the Trump/Vance campaign about the 20 year difference in military experience. We have yet to hear back from them at the time of publication.

  • But that doesn't matter. He needs the debate more than she does. There's never going to be a debate on Fox News because they aren't unbiased.

Democrats have most likely learned their lesson. Unless you're a rhetorical genius like John Stewart or Bernie Sanders, Fox News is a death trap.

  • They didn't. They got a super majority and passed the most comprehensive healthcare bill in history. And pulled the economy out of the biggest recession since the Great Depression. And approved Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor who created a 5/4 Democratic slant to the Supreme Court, allowing gay marriage to be legalized.

And then in 2011 Osama Bin Laden was killed in his home in front of his grandchildren. All that sounds successful to me.

  • That's because the Clintons aren't a "dynasty" either. They're just husband and wife. It's certainly unique for a husband and wife to both be successful in politics, but a dynasty implies multiple generations.

The "Clinton Dynasty" is just a right-wing talking point, and has been since the '90s.

  • You are correct about all of that, but don't get caught in a word trap. A constitutional republic is a type of democracy. It is a representative democracy, instead of a direct democracy.

No countries are direct democracies but they are still democracies. It just means "the people choose their leaders".

  • Ehh, maybe. Many people are trying as hard as they can, sometimes with undiagnosed mental issues. "Act like an adult" is only good advice if you are just lazy.

Maybe "move to a cheaper area so you can afford a house" is better advice.
