Moreso an apple with controversial but not strictly CSAM material based in a country where it's content is legal. Actually, not even an apple; Lemmy and the fediverse aren't an entity. It's an open standard for anyone to use; you don't see the Modern Language Association being blamed for plagiarized essays written in MLA format, or the WHATWG being blamed because illegal sites are written in HTML, so it's not a fair comparison to say that Lemmy/the fediverse are responsible for what people do with their open standard either
There's not much of a point in the base Opera when Opera GX exists, besides having a less gimmicky UI. If you value your privacy, don't use it, but if you don't, it's a decent Chromium based browser
Trump has enough believers in the QAnon deep state bullshit to kill DeSantis' campaign. Trump knows that as long as he is running for office, all of the investigations into him will have to be more cautious to avoid looking like they're persecuting the opposition. He will run 3rd party if he loses the nomination, and he will take enough voters with him to kill DeSantis' chances in the white house
I work in hospitality. There's a lot of waiting around at my job, so I mostly used Reddit to kill time. I hopped over to Lemmy since Wefwef's app is better and Blahaj.zone had a Lemmy instance

They shipped the Wii encryption key along with the emulator. While there's no established legal precedent that encryption keys are protected by copyright, it's largely been assumed by those in the industry that they are. It's also blatantly a measure to circumvent anti piracy measures. If Dolphin required you to go find the Wii encryption key on your own and input it into the emulator, Nintendo would have no grounds to stand on, but they screwed up and risked everything by one of the most infamously anti emulator, litigation happy corporations on earth
You ever drive through Disney World property? They have hundreds of thousands of people on the property every single day, yet there's hardly ever any traffic on the property itself. They achieve this through free and robust public transportation that takes people between all of the hotels and the parks while penalizing drivers who don't want to take it with large parking fees. Especially with buses taking people between the airport and Disney property, there's hardly a reason for most people to rent a car. As a result, despite heavy traffic in the area surrounding Disney World, they've effectively beat traffic on the property itself, but clearly traffic is unbeatable with public transportation because the billionaire who owns a car company says it doesn't work
100k a day for operating in a country of 5 million people. The question isn't "how much does this affect their global earnings?", it's "is it worth paying 100k a day to run personalized ads in a country with a population of Minnesota?"
I keep seeing this article posted to scare people, but Lemmy and Mastodon aren't in the same situation as XMPP. XMPP had barely any users outside of Google Talks, with the overwhelming majority of interactions on XMPP being between Google Talks users. Google was tying their product to a public standard that they couldn't develop however they wanted, all for compatibility with very few users. When they pulled out of using XMPP to develop their own platform, the sheer lack of users on XMPP outside of Google Talks became apparent. This will not be the case with Lemmy/Kbin/Mastodon/ect. Mastodon has 10 million registered users, and Lemmy has hundreds of thousands. The majority of both service's users are not about to switch over to sell their soul to the Zucc, so if Facebook federates for a while before defederating, Lemmy and Mastodon will have as large and robust communities as they have now, and the services will live on unlike with XMPP

They will both lose if DeSantis wins the primary. Trump is banking on the government being too afraid to arrest a presidential candidate during election season to stay out of prison and is famously terrible at conceding elections. He will absolutely run as an independent and split the Republican vote between him and DeSantis if he loses the primary, making it even easier for Biden to win reelection
The best thing to happen from the exodus regardless of it's size is that there is now an active, popular, and viable Reddit alternative with better mobile support than Reddit. Reddit will likely never die, but users who get sick of their BS now or in the future have legitimate options with enough active users to keep them busy
Steam version of Black Ops 3 with Zombie Chronicles. It has a ton of official maps, and the steam version has a near infinite amount of custom community made ones. World at War is a close second just for custom zombies
Gamepass and Minecraft Bedrock mostly. Gamepass is something that I use a lot that will never work with Linux, and my friend group is split between console and PC for Minecraft so Bedrock edition works best for us. I still use SteamOS on my Steam Deck and enjoy it, but switching operating systems on my main computer just to play games is a bit excessive
The Discord public server browser is pretty bad, Disboard.org is a better server browser that has more servers and filtering options. A lot of YouTubers and online groups will have their own discord servers as well, which you can typically find with some digging (a ton of subreddits had official discord servers long before all the current drama started for example)
