You just need 3 largish televisions, a small TV or monitor for the top, and stuff to mount each screen in that configuration. Your PC doesn't need to be that good unless you are doing something like gaming, just enough to run 4 1080p windows. Once you connect them, it's fairly easy to adjust the configuration in Windows to extend and rotate the monitors to make the setup work. Depending on how you get the televisions (you can buy them used, flat screen 1080p TVs have been popular for a long time and are relatively affordable) and how you decide to mount them, you can build this setup for only a couple hundred

Nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki fit into the highly controversial US strategy of strategic bombing Japanese industry prior to a land invasion, and they were not even the most deadly of our strategic bombing campaigns against Japan (the fire bombing of Tokyo was worse). A proper invasion of Japan post introduction of nuclear bombs commanded by one of our most infamously nuke happy commanders, Douglas MacArthur, planned to have US troops marching through the radioactive wasteland formerly known as Japan slaughtering anything that resisted them. It wasn't an either or, we weren't nuking Japan as an alternative to a land invasion, we were nuking them in preparation for a land invasion

For decades, the Republican party has had the Baptist/Evangelical vote in the bag without having to actually do anything thanks to abortion. Republican politicians could rile up their base attacking abortion and be excused for not doing anything about it by their constituents as abortion was a constitutional right, and because abortion was a constitutional right that couldn't be taken away, those who cared about it could still be in good conscience when they vote for a Republican. The dog caught its tail when Roe was overturned, and now that abortion can be outlawed on every level of government, Republican inaction on abortion will see their support among Baptists/Evangelicals tank. Overturning Roe is the most self damaging thing the Republican party has ever done, and now they are forced to choose between catering to religious fanatics or normal people

I am extremely rough with my headphones to the point that I'd always break the cable on wired headsets in a few months. Yeah, wireless isn't on par with wired headphones in every single way yet, but once I switched to Bluetooth, I was able to keep using my headphones for years at a time before the battery would give out. Add in that I can wander around freely with my headphones, and yeah, the latency is a pretty good tradeoff for my situation
That's a problem especially with lemmy.world . They took the brunt of the Reddit migration and had to massively adjust their servers to accommodate the influx of users and communities. Other instances have been more stable

The software 2B2T and other major servers run is typically custom made. The reason servers like 2B2T need a player queue is because the official Minecraft server software is garbage and runs everything on a single CPU thread, placing a firm upper limit on how much stuff can run on a server. Server networks like Hypixel shuffle players through lobbies and mini games on various different servers to spread the load, but since 2B2T is a single world, they have to run a custom, highly optimized server file to be able to handle their player numbers. If Mojang would invest in developing more scalable server software, player queues would be a thing of the past without having to ban them, but Mojang would rather harass server owners for having to accommodate Mojang's poor product than actually fix the underlying issue
Yep, it's literally just another Reddit. The main benefit is that it's decentralized so it's not under the control of a single corporation, but yeah, it's mainly ex redditors on a service designed to be an alternative to Reddit
Unfortunately the current situation appeases the global powers the most. China and Russia will not stand to have a US allied united Korea so close to Beijing and Vladivostok, which means a united Korea is a neutral, non US aligned Korea, which the US does not want. Having North Korea be a buffer state between China/Russia and the US aligned South Korea is the most stable option, and as a result North Korea knows that it can do whatever it wants and still be propped up by Beijing, just as it has since the Korean war
Made my account in 2011. I'm not deleting, but I've completely stopped using it outside of the occasional google search that points to a Reddit thread. Lemmy is a legitimate and viable alternative to Reddit at this point, and apps like Wefwef are leagues better than the official reddit app
Awesome. We get to save money on storing and disposing of old, surplus equipment, and Taiwan gets weapons that will prove vital should war break out. In the event of a war between Taiwan and China, US intervention is not guaranteed, and it will be significantly more difficult to send arms to Taiwan compared to how we've been sending arms to Ukraine, so ensuring that Taiwan has the means to defend themselves ahead of time is vital if the US wants to make sure Taiwan survives. The amount is basically nothing compared to the US military's annual budget or the aid we've given to other countries, but hopefully this opens the door for further investment into Taiwan's military
As far as the protests go, they were quite successful. Reddit's traffic went massively down; users, especially power users who uploaded content and moderated subreddits, left the site; and Lemmy became a viable alternative to Reddit with the influx of users. Reddit is still struggling to replace the moderators who quit, and they've been forced to take desperate actions like reinstating r/place and paying users who get a lot of upvotes to keep traffic on the site. The decision was never going to be reversed, the old free API scheme legitimately cost Reddit money and forcing users to use the official app like every other major social media has meant they could collect more data on users to sell. But as far as what the protest accomplished besides reversing the decision, it massively hurt Reddit and bolstered Lemmy into being a viable replacement
It created a mass exodus of users, especially active ones who post content, who have founded communities elsewhere. Lemmy exists, and for a lot of users Lemmy has completely replaced their reddit addiction. Though subreddits reopen, the quality of content has gotten significantly worse, and for users fed up with Reddit, they now have a viable alternative to go to
