  • Where did I praise exclusivity? If you're going to argue in bad faith then fuck off right away. And yes, you wanting "your library to be unified under one megacorporation" is indeed leading to a monopoly.

I guess you're too young to remember Steam was shit in the initial years as well and people fucking hated it. You're also blaming publishers for making an offer that developers voluntarily accepted, nobody forced them to do it, and most often it's just temporary exclusivity anyway.

Valve literally just gives a shit about the consumer first.

I guess you learned absolutely nothing from the past decades of seeing where capitalism led us and how corporations conduct business. Thinking Valve is going to stay like this forever, especially once Gaben retires or passes away, is just naive. I just hope there's someone else to at least remotely keep them in check by then.

  • Oh, are we having the same reddit circlejerk here too? Epic is fine and steam monopoly is bad, the cut devs get is better on epic so if you want to support devs buy there, devs have said they had a lot of support from epic the publisher and were happy with it, and if you hate the launcher then use heroic which is what you use anyway on steam deck for both epic and gog. Get off your high horse, it's just a store, not an identity.

  • The only thing I agree with you in any of these is that they are probably indeed unpopular opinions, so gj I guess.

  • My 3060Ti has been serving me very well, I've played games that look amazingly unbelievably good (Death Stranding for example) with it, but these recent new requirements are crazy. Especially with UE5 games, I can't help but think it's just shitty optimization because they don't look good enough to justify this.

  • The point of p2p is to reduce the costs and it's a great idea if it takes off. Lemmy is expensive enough already without having it worry about enormous storage and bandwidth requirementsffor video hosting...

  • I had lots of fun with the game. Story is meh but gameplay was excellent, the balance of satisfying exploration and excellent combat kept me engaged to the end. Wish there was more to do with the settlements and some crazier hordes at the end (the game ends up being a bit too easy by the end but then again, I did most of the side content too), but it was still great.

My dream game would be Project Zomboid depth with Days Gone presentation and gameplay 😁

  • I ain't falling for it again, I will believe it once it's actually out and playable, until then they can fuck off.

  • I've seen Thronefall recently and it looked really cool, but it also apparently has just a few hours of content. You might enjoy it as a chill experience tho

  • Have you played any of the modern incarnations of those games perhaps, and if so did you like them? I've been looking at Nebuchadnezzar for a while now but could never pull the trigger, seemed always kinda meh

  • I usually have similar stress playing management games but honestly, of all of them factorio really lets you do it at your own pace, especially if you torn off biter expansion. I'd often just say something like "ok this afternoon I'm redesigning the oil refineries because they are a mess" while everything else is just standing by waiting for me. Ticking these things off one by one is kind of the main attraction of games like these tbh

  • Can't believe it's gonna be a year before we get to play with these things, now I really wish they didn't start hyping it so soon.

  • Knowing that there's reasonable and friendly people like you on mastodon will surely help with the adoption

  • So is the Witcher but they still gave us a nice farewell. Besides, most of the endings in cyberpunk felt unnecessarily bad, railroaded into a negative outcome. I really thought we'd get a merged ending at least, they even teased it with the delamain story, but nah.

  • Also obscurity, practically none of the content creators or companies I followed on Twitter have moved to Mastodon and getting news from them was the only purpose of that site in the first place (for me).

  • Some people here are blaming paradox but honestly, I don't envy any game releasing in this period. We've had so many great (and expensive games) in the past few months but even if that weren't the case, personally I'm not willing to pay 50€ for something that looks like a blander XCOM game (or 65€ if you want the special additional character, bleugh).

Then again maybe I'm just not the diehard fan and their target audience, the only game of theirs I played was shadorun many years ago and I wasn't interested in battletech either. If I were in a mood for a turn based game I know I'd sooner pick up BG3 since their price is relatively close...

  • I'm still here but I also have a bunch of accounts for other instances. Between the bugs, domain blocks and defederation, this fediverse seems like a bad example of how to use activity pub in practice tbh. Either the protocol is not defined enough or not enforced well enough by the sites using it, but it seems like a mess.

  • Isn't modern php supposed to be pretty good and fast? And I thought the issues were on a database / federation level anyway, not related to php performance.

  • I loved Control, would I enjoy Alan Wake 1 or 2? I always thought they were horror games that I generally don't enjoy, but if it's Control-like horror with more focus on eldritch mystery and plot twists rather than gore and jumpscares I kinda want to try it.

  • I disagree, with or without taking bugs into consideration. It was a great experience and if you liked the base game you'll probably like the expansion too, if you didn't like the base game then you won't.

  • Would the same argument work for movies, can I upload the entire Oppenheimer to youtube if I sometimes add an edit explaining some scenes or adding context, for example? Is that also transformative?

Cuz I don't mind react videos on their own, but the common issue is they basically re-upload the entire original video and people who watch that don't have to give views to the original. IMO react videos shouldn't contain more than 50% of the original.
