  • As a country we were given the choice between letting one house burn vs letting the entire city burn, and instead of making a helpful choice a group of people decided to protest fire, and yet more decided to just sit at home while the world burned around them.

They knew what the choices were. Trump flat out said he didn’t care about the constitution, didn’t care about human life, and didn’t care about democracy.

Electoral reform isn’t even part of this discussion. It’s like wishing the fire didn’t start in the first place.

Sorry if I’m coming on heated, but the idiots who run around screaming about how both sides are the same are an active part of the problem.

Dream big, work towards that dream, but until that dream comes true you still live in a reality where the best choice you can make is “the lesser evil.”

  • Not just reading. A while back, some ISPs moved towards replacing DNS queries to known DNS servers with their own replies.

  • Karma isn’t real, don’t count on it handling anything.

  • Ha, I’m currently in a company modernizing their IT systems. The number of things relying 100% on excel documents which reference other excel documents, which reference yet more excel documents is concerning. They have an entire “program” based in excel, which takes several hours a day to run, and this runs the majority of the company.

Just because you’ve not seen it, or even thought about it, doesn’t mean it isn’t out there in a live system right now.

  • Is it actually his fault? Not likely. None of his policies had really affected the ATC, at least for the first couple incidents.

But it’s something we can point to as a nice little factoid. And as president, the buck stops with him. Wether or not he directly influenced events is besides the point.

  • Fortnite, Apex Legends, Guild Wars 2 (which admittedly released on Steam later) and more all prove this claim false.

  • These kinds of comments are just silly. Explain how Valve has a monopoly.

  • None of your quoted text is actually about people in poverty. I once again circle back to not thinking you understand what poverty means.

  • Read that as cosmetologist and was thoroughly confused.

  • No, they aren’t. Poverty is poverty. You don’t get better off because your neighbor has more money. That’s just not how poverty works.

  • That doesn’t help people in poverty.

You’re not explaining how a faster growing GDP helps someone in poverty. Do you not understand what the word poverty means?

  • No one is talking about North Korea. We are talking about poverty in America then vs now. Trying to move the goalpost to include a completely unrelated datapoint is pointless.

You also completely ignored my rather direct question.

  • Can you actually explain why you think that?

How does a faster growing GDP help someone in poverty?

  • Bidens suggestion was explicitly about allowing Palestinians to flee into Egypt short term instead of being forced to flee repeatedly within the country.

Trying to equate the two is quite disingenuous.

  • You should watch Lower Decks.

  • I’m really doubting this. Mods don’t have the ability to ban you sitewide, that’s only admins. And as an ex mod who was routinely harassed through modmail, they don’t often ban unless it’s death threat or continuous harassment levels of interaction.

For instance, we had one user who didn’t like being banned for their racist comments, so started being racist in modmail in response. It took four months of report/mute before they finally caught a ban.

  • There’s also something to be said about some services being cordoned off in a VPN while leaving some public with security. I don’t necessarily want everyone within my full network if all I want is to share one service with them.

  • This is both disingenuous and extremely reductive.

The majority of foreign aid in the past few years has gone to Ukraine. It also goes into disease prevention, such as the Ebola outbreak, and fighting aids and other diseases.

Are there issues? Absolutely. But those issues are more about the US not caring that it destroys existing infrastructure (for instance Haitis ability to grow food) while replacing it with dependence on the US.
