Never going to happen until most of all states have ranked choice or star voting. First past the post is basically designed for only 2 parties.

I think it's about where you want to put your time in for a career. Not sure how professors are doing right now, but with the department of education budget being slashed, many are seeing the writing on the wall for the future of education here in America.

Highlighting that they are a country that still values inclusive education, and emphasizing their tenure stuff, shows that their country wants and needs you, and intends to value you long term, vs America trying to show the opposite.

I think the point here is that, rather than endorse a genocide, you endorsed 2 genocides, and everything else that this administration does. I get that even one genocide is too much, but for that one you could be calling your representative and writing letters and doing whatever else you can to people who might care about those actions.

I think Goliath was a "giant" in the same sense that an NBA player is a giant. Not like a mythical species in the Bible, just a genetic anomaly family that was crazy big and strong. Meanwhile, the average height was back then was much shorter than it is now.

So think of a fairly average but smallish guy beating up Shaq and I think that's what we are supposed to envision.

Yeah that's true. Right now our two big leaders amount to the school bully and maybe an average student. It is a lot to ask the average student to stand up the school bully, even if it's a lot of other students asking him.

We need real leaders. We need to volunteer ourselves so that the best of us can help lead the country. We keep asking for better but none of us want to step up.

Agree that "at least we aren't them" doesn't work. It needs to be more "Republican Matt Gaetz responds to allegations of PEDOPHILIA" and "Home insurance continues to rise under the gross MISMANAGEMENT of Ron Desantis - Floridians fleeing state" and maybe "Many are questioning if Republicans even know HOW to govern, as reliance on money from Democrat run states increases".

You know, flashy clickbait headlines for the lazy (average) American voter. Republicans have shown even a stupid lie (they are eating the dogs!) told enough times convinces people.

Doing good definitely matters. Getting the message out that you did so apparently matters more.

What we are seeing matters most though, is showing the other side did BAD.

Her campaign was... Fine. It could have used more things like podcasts and such, but I don't know that could have gotten her what she needed. Her issues were more that the media was stacked against her, and we had insane voter suppression this time around. If she had maybe 6 months instead of 3 to get her name out there, maybe her traditional methods could have worked. She was packing out the venues she was visiting, so there was excitement for her.

She just couldn't compete with the entire media and voter suppression.

My sister is a nurse. Hospitals are constantly trying to put more and more workload per nurse than is feasible/safe. That sounds like it's to your point, but it isn't really. My sister was making like $25 per hour before covid. Her job was to take care of NICU babies. For $25 per hour, with a degree and a fair amount of student loan debt. And they keep adding responsibilities and assume they will work overtime "for the babies".

Why would anyone want to go to school to get into an underpaid field where literal babies' lives are constantly in your hands, and the hospital is trying their hardest to decrease their nursing payout by decreasing nursing staff?

We need regulation. Nurses are quitting the field because they cannot handle the stress and the pay certainly isn't worth it.

Yes they are original tires. I check against bar in the tread periodically and wear is tracking about normal. When I was a kid someone watched me corner like a madman in my honda civic and said to me "wow you must really like buying tires." It really stuck with me. I had been buying tires frequently for that small car. Now I corner like a grandma and tires last forever.

I own a brother printer and never have had an issue. Only had to buy toner once in like ten years. I've had a Tesla for 3 years and will probably have to buy tires in another two years when I get to like 45,000 miles.

So yeah, this tracks I guess?

You overestimate how much nature we step in on a given day. It's usually basically cement everywhere

I once made an app for Samsung watches for disc golf scorekeeping. It could accept any number of players, apply a handicap throughout the game so you could know exactly how you were doing vs your opponent with different handicaps on every hole, and gave a nice scorecard at the end to view. It was $0.99

Someone complained that I made them "throw away their money down the drain" since it didn't also have gps to tell them how far they were from the hole.

Dude I remember that day Jesus rose from the dead. Crazy day. It was.. was it Wednesday? I'm not sure. No wait it was definitely Sunday. The first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Yeah that's when it was. Who could forget that?

I played Borderlands with my brother online once. He was ahead of me but we wanted to have fun together so we tried to play together.

I was on a mission to get the best gun for my current level. He was kind enough to just drop a gun that was as good or better for my level than what I was seeking. I no longer had to do that quest.

In fact, he dropped all the best guns he had through all the levels. I no longer had to do any extra quests.

I quit the game. It was suddenly boring. It was the need for the next new thing that had been making it exciting, and now that was gone.

I think about that sometimes for rich people. Why does it never get boring?

US didn't really ban it because they didn't like it. While there was a women's group protesting against the alcoholism in the country, I don't think it would have had any traction were it not for the anti union push.

Saloons were a great meetup spot to make unions. Everyone from work was already there. If companies could make saloons illegal, it would make it harder to make unions. But there was a problem. The US got a lot of its tax revenue from alcohol taxes.

So they pitched the idea of replacing alcohol tax with income tax, making the budget balance (in fact much improve!). So it got passed to benefit the US government budget, and help the union situation for companies.

It was not prohibited for long. As you stated, it quickly went awry. But it didn't matter. The US government now gets its income tax, plus alcohol tax now. Saloons became less popular since they were gone long enough for habits to change.

I am terrible at lucid dreaming. Gave up after having only a few successful times. My experience though is, anything too far outside your normal real experiences will cause you to wake up.

I tried breathing underwater for a couple lucid dreams. I woke up before I would have inhaled water in the dream. I got scuba certified before my next attempt, and all the sudden, I was able to breathe underwater in my dreams.

Kind of disappointing. If I can't break the rules of life in my dreams what's the point of lucid dreaming? Maybe once VR gets good enough it can bridge the gap and give me close enough experiences that I can replicate them in dreams.

My watch pointed out my HRV suffers if I eat right before bed. It shows how "restful" my sleep is and if I eat in the last two hours before bed, the sleep barely gets into "rest" levels. Like equivalent to sitting down in a chair instead of sleeping for the first couple hours.

I know it sucks but maybe consider a larger lunch and just a light protein shake or something before bed if you really need calories then. I'm still figuring all this out too, but that really makes a big difference for me
