  • I did this in November over a weekend blowing leaves and stepped off an elevated piece of my driveway (due to tree roots). Heard a snap crackle pop and couldn’t walk on it. That Monday i went to urgent care and they x-rayed me, saw a potential fracture and put me in a boot. Went to a podiatrist a few days later and said i tore some ligaments, no fracture thankfully. A month on the boot with icing, then another month using a support wrap since i just wear slip ons (unless especially wintery out) with anti-inflammatory meds and I’m now free, though still feel not exactly 100% but seems to be getting better.

  • I got mine as a display model when Office Depot/Max were killing off stores that were too close together and I had had no issues in the at least 7 years I’ve had it. Its a black and white printer and have used CVS or where for printing pictures the off chance I need to. I also have only bought toner a time or two over the years. Dual sided scanning and printing? For my occasional use its perfect.

  • I did recently grab one of those ONN android tv boxes and started tinkering (we have 2 Roku TVs and a ooold LCD with a Roku box for the kiddos). I was able to get a new launcher on it, debloat it, and then put SmartTube on it which does omit adds and also has sponserblock on it. Not sure how much space it has but i also installed RetroArch (I think) and see how it does with some 90s gaming. I at least connected my 8bitdo controller to it via bluetooth and was navigating around. Pretty happy with it for $19 so far.

    Big on Plex here _

  • Prime only because it’s included. Otherwise my VPN and the high seas. Might consider youtube premium for the family account to get rid of ads but trying to see if I can get Pihole or something working.

  • Right and for newer vehicles there is a couple of 2020 Bolts and a 2022 Bolt EUV for low $20k or under in my area. If I travel a little bit away from my area I have found 2017 Bolts for $15k.

As mentioned they’re not great for road tripping because of their slow L3 charge speeds, but perfect for me to use for my commute or local-ish running. It or a EUV will probably be my replacement for my ‘08 Rabbit whenever it goes, but I only put on about 3k miles a year on my car soooo it might be a while. I also need to see if i can put a family of 5 in one (reverse car seat, booster, and older kiddo in the back). I think they’ll do it.

  • Mine’s the 390t with 256mb of storage. So it’s one of the ones that’s triangle in shape with a real smal lcd screen and takes a single AA battery. Suuuuper simple to just plug in with mini USB and drag and drop mp3s over.

  • My MiL was just asking me about the places i hung out as a teen (40yo here) because in HER day they had teen social clubs and all. I looked at her as if she had a third eye lol. I think it was the local mall, or CCG/TTRPG shop for me in my town. In the area I’m at now they’ve practically banned teens from the mall after a certain time. I have no idea where my kiddos will be able to go when they’re older. Hopefully my red state doesn’t obliterate libraries at least, though I’m in a blue spot.

  • I’ll usually find that burgers/steaks etc at restaurants are what usually bother me more than if i go and buy/season/cook myself. Not sure if it’s just over seasoned meat, or the type/quality. Even then, I usually prefer chicken or turkey-based (lower fat) alternatives or mixes (like a turkey ground chuck).

I haven’t really gotten into plant-based alternatives, though I’m not opposed to it…as long as it tastes good! Lol
