Depending on your hardware, I'd say if you consider compatibility first.
Touchscreen is something you mentioned, I've used lenovo laptops that have built in touchscreen that work well on fedora.
They want something close to windows then I say Linux mint.
I have used Linux mint with various ages past 2 years. Very on levels from beginner to complete non tech users. On those that need compatibility with various applications close to windows. Regular Linux mint
On users that just require basic internet and document usage (aka a word like application) Linux mint debian edition (why? Less complicated, for non tech savy people). Less configuration means lower chances of issues popping up.
TLDR base your decision on peoples needs, and your ability to assist with what they have. Right tool for the job. Hope this helps.
ESIM using silent.link = a phone line that can only be used to receive messages and calls no outbound calls allowed. However you need a phone with esim support.
Physical sim on another device: great but you need a seperate hardware and have something extra to carry and charge.
Physical sim on a dual sim phone. Easier to carry however it runs the battery faster and sometimes you can forget which sim you are on if you are quickly calling or texting.
Mains sim plus VoIP line example is mysudo- use one phone, seperate your communication between your actual number and an app with VoIP. Seperate phones # via software since VoIP is all on app side. Requires you have an internet connection to work properly. Not all services are happy using VoIP and stop you from registering or changing numbers to VoIP.
I am excited about it, however I also was sad the original one wasn't finished. I'm also curious how they handle deploying it for obvious reasons. The one I loved watching over and over was watermelon island, threw me for a loop. Also I love the design of characters from that era.
It does also have third party repos such as sbopkg. This does a bunch of the movement for you when installing packages though you still need to manually install dependencies, BUT If you also add sboui which is a front end package resolution for dependencies then the process is much faster. I like the stability of Slackware, and also because its helps me get better for when I try the BSD since its very much like them as well.
Chillin' in My 30s After Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army is a good one to watch. Its sits in the middle between light hearted and has some sad moments but they are not dwelled on for too long.
I would have suggested silent.link , while you can get a number not tied to your identity via esim, the main focus of numbers is a receiver for text and calls(also because it avoid people creating spam phone calls/txt). Which was originally for 2fa that only had cell # as an option. Also a number requires the user to be vigilant in paying their annual for it or they can lose the number. Also I think they can only cater for users in US, Canada and maybe UK.
What i love about this show is what happens after the story ends. Lots of story have this ending of epic quest, but i always wonder, does your happily ever after last forever? Thats when Frieren takes the direction to answer those questions. I love the approach, everyone loves conflict and major problems. Very few shows actaully go on to talk about what happens after "peace" in a more world view.
I watched this too a while back. Love the design and the performance of the characters on the show. Very surprised to here goku voice actor as MK, but i thought that was a genius move. One thing i epsecially liked was the antagonist, solid and a good story. The pacing was also great. It such an underated show. Im planning on buying the blue ray copy.
I dont blame em for going with that decision. Maintainer/devs are also wearing customer service/ PR and bookeeping hat on top of the things they build. Things cost money, especially time, call it greedy or not but people have to pay housing and food. Its tough and similar to a lot of industries, nobody cares until something goes wrong. All the best to this person 👍
introducing programing and linux are two seperate things, though they do bridge when running linux, it would be asking em to learn one or the other. ( offer something already easy linux distro, to learn linux passively while focusing on programing.

If you are in the US. Ask the college/university for taking walk ins for classes. They allow you to attend classes for free to check out if you want to be a student. Depending on the school there will be no limit. ( honestly tech fields are mostly certifications and experience; a degree with student loans not necessary)
Local library, ive found books for programing languages to check out, use the cities resources.
Conclusion
All these options mean nothing unless the person does it and applys. You need to accept that no matter how much you suggest/guide/offer , that at the end of the day the choice is theirs. Especially at an age that wants to figure things out on their own.
Thats good, congrats, it does get difficult to start an actual friendship, there are a lot of people i talk with but I dont use friends as those relationships because it hasnt evolved to that aspect. Maintaining them is very important though, otherwise one side can get burnt out with putting in more of the effort. All the best to your continued success.
One things for sure is that it involved minors, which means any kind of lawsuit would instantly involve the parents, who i cant see taking it well that their familys corpses were tampered with, regardless of what the individual girls/boy say. However as much as we can emulate our culture/laws, it is a show, yeah there are "doesnt make sense moments" which can be boiled down to, example, the policeman is vain and an idiot that he just doesnt process it. However thats why the inspector is brought into the mix to fill those missing pieces on their background. The lids gonna blow up, the question is when.
I have not watched this, but let me tell you my experience with watching re zero as it had the original, directors cuts and specials on crunchyroll. Which i watched all of em. If the show is overall good enough, every version has a little something extra to contribute to the experience.
Full metal alchemist was spedrun on brotherhood but really only the beginning. So i dont see it approached in the same manner, also because the world of both (fma and and wolf)are much too different. Maybe they will do it like fruits basket. Hopefully bring in the og cast(i havent read up on it to see this being true or not) and continue it like that. However the approach, its got enough attention to get the previous fans talking about it and new people interested in it. So whatever is being done, its at least working to some degree. Plus to the new crowds, its different in a sense to what has been told recently.
Morally speaking, your are right, initially he should not have done that. However the interactions of the zombie girls thoughout the series shows that it gave them an opportunity to deal with some of their initial unsolved problems. Im not saying this justifies them being brought back. Im saying its bad, they have done a lot of good both personally/professionally, and the future is unknown. I can see it going south for sure(as one possibility), here is the thing with making dicey choices, eventually you will have to face what comes with it.
Yes, i have seen it happen several times and i get blamed why its not showing on the show laptop. The moment i ask, "did you purchase any add on effects?" i feel like a customer service telling a customer your credit card was denied.
Its a pretty dependent question.
