To be frank I don't think the state cares about them. They're like weeds in a garden and they hold no political power whatsoever outside of the internet, and they're still generally laughingstocks there. Given how hard moderation is with the sheer volume of content, the CPC mostly worries about more important things.

I guess I must be hanging around the right parts of town lmao, I personally haven't seen much Japan apologia or Manchu restorationism, which I guess I can chalk up to the election cycle at the time and seeing mostly backlash.

Only for a few months lol, since I had no good vpn and was stuck browsing Chinese media for better or worse (lemmygrad traffic is a bit too slow for my taste). But yeah, I do spend most of my time on reddit and especially youtube, so I've seen... things.

Not really coherent enough as a worldview/ideology for the tierlist, but I would lump it in with conservative westhating.

Yeah, my experience being limited to bilibili has kinda narrowed the scope of this tierlist. There seems to be a tendency online to overcorrect for the unapologetic bootlicking that was going on decades back, but frankly I'm just glad they're being obnoxious in person where I can't see or hear from them, ever.

I would argue that that's still 'basic biology', given that most of the time when people learn about this stuff for the first time the 'central dogma' is taught in a package, and that it doesn't go over things such as ribozymes and regulatory stuff. In any case, DNA essentialism is still stupid, since it's disproved in numerous ways even without involving sex and gender (the elephant in the room being tissue differentiation)

Eh, I would argue that sex is more like an arbitrary classification than a spectrum, but other wise I completely agree with what you're saying. And even in schools, at least from my experience, they don't teach you about gender and sex being the same thing, they only teach you about sexual characteristics and what they do. So all their arguments were essentially completely pulled out of their asses. Gender itself actually isn't discussed very much in any of the biology textbooks I own, probably because it's more psychology-adjacent. We don't really touch anything more complex than reflexes lol

I've been listening to lots of King Crimson lately, especially '21st Century Schizoid Man' and 'The Court of the Crimson King'. I've tried some of their later stuff and it's not really my thing though. Maybe I'll give it another go.

If you mean safety as in physical safety, pretty much nowhere in China is unsafe by any means. I only went to Shanghai once long ago and not to Chengdu at all, so it depends on what you want to see.

I've seen some of this too, although more on the vic3 subreddit. A lot of it is diluted with ultra garbage, but it's encouraging.

I would really recommend them go to China! Shameless plug here but my home city Shenyang is a very good place to visit. Prices are very low there, and you can get a lot of places just using subway, bus, and taxi for places too far between stations. Even close to the city center I couldn't see any poverty in places you'd expect like below bridges etc, the worse you'll find is piss.

Maybe it's where I'm from, but whenever people open their mouths about China here, they never have good things to say...
