That's the beauty of it, police don't have to protect and serve in America. Courts made sure of that. Don't need to know the laws they're enforcing either. Just run an obstacle course and take a 40 hr course on killology - the idea that policing is the most dangerous job on the planet and everyone is trying to kill you at all times- and presto, they give you a gun, body armor, and protection from the legal and financial repercussions of your actions.
Plus, there's lots of networking opportunities with local white supremacist and christofascist organizations.
I mean, I think the logical thing to do is wait until the evidence comes out and we know for sure. It's entirely possible he was under a lot of stress from all this and did kill himself. Now, I don't deny that it's a HUGE. FUCKING. CONICIDENCE. but those do happen from time to time. Its also a hell of a story, good-guy whistleblower murdered by greedy multinational aerospace company and defense contractor...during an election year...if you wrote the script nobody would buy it.
I wonder if he feels the same about healthcare, housing, food, and clean water. Regardless of how much shit he has, he can live in the same apartment with the same public water and food deserts and a doctor that isn't on his personal staff.
Unfortunately, lots of folks here on lemmy seem antithetical to the idea that slow or minor progress still counts as progress. Maybe it's a communication issue inherent to this format, but the crux of the argument I see most often is "Biden did genocide, genocide is bad. Therefore, any support for Biden is support for genocide outright."
It seems like an inability or unwillingness to recognize degrees of tragedy...it's the worst case of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm getting pretty damn nervous about the number of folks saying outright that they won't ever vote for Biden because they don't accept the premise that, as long as we still have FPTP elections and the electoral college, voting anyone other than the mainstream Dem candidate makes a Republican victory more likely, regardless of the candidates either party puts forward. I know that at least some of these folks are just trolls, but we're on a razor-thin margin, and in a scenario where 100k votes across a handful of states will likely decide the contest, I worry about even a single person being talked out of participating meaningfully in the election.
It's exasperated by the fact that, for a lot of young voters, every election they've been old enough to participate in has been a boring old white person vs a wannabe dictator and so they've started feeling like "it's the most important election ever" is just a scare tactic to make them vote blue.
The irony of the GOP going bankrupt because they have to donate all their money to women's charities after selling the party out to this buffoon is so think I could choke on it.
I don't think he speaks for all Jewish people or all people in Israel...as far as the government goes...he might not speak for them, but he's definitely harmonizing. As far as data points go, I submit everything that had happened since 1967, with a very specific focus on the last ~5 months.
Well, not financially anyway. Maybe a promise for a future political favor if he wins? Not that I'd accuse a Swiss financial interest of working with fascists...
It's a step in the right direction... a few months ago, they were dully supporting the Israeli government. It's a pretty fast turnaround considering the history of the relationship.
Same as every day. Push left as best as can as the local level, keep volunteering for poll worker duty and funding candidates I fully support. This is a marathon.
No. Only use epoch. Oh crap...I was supposed to be at work at 1710337651! Gotta go!
