Europe has proven we can't fix this by importing millions of unskilled people with radically different values. The social unrest is proving catastrophic. Rightwing parties are gaining traction in almost every European country. The EU is on track to accept more than a million applications this year alone, and most of them have large families which will be granted reunification. Data shows most of them will never work a day in their lives. Our social systems will collapse within a decade at this rate. We'll be lucky if the EU itself survives this.
Instead, we really need to alleviate the issues resulting in young people not having kids. The usual argument is, "it's too expensive." While true, data shows that income isn't a barrier to fertility. In fact, higher income results in lower fertility, with some exceptions at the very top end of the income spectrum.
For decades German politicians have used the excuse that it takes many years to build nuclear. If they had started decades ago, Germany would have a dozen plants now and have no energy woes. Instead we now see a huge proportion of Germany’s energy generated by coal and lignite. Get off the anti-science train and join us in the 21st century. Nuclear is safe, plentiful, and green.
This doesn’t mean they shouldn’t invest in other forms of energy too. Energy grids require diversification, and concurrent leaders have been asleep at the wheel.
If you won’t even acknowledge that some people need help to learn to read, does that mean you want to eliminate literacy support for refugees? Isn’t that far more racist than just accepting reality? I believe this is what we call horseshoe politics at work. The tendency for the loudest “anti-racists” in the room to be the absolute worst racists.
You are deliberately talking over them. They’re clearly not claiming that all migrants are illiterate or uneducated or ill-prepared for work in Europe. They’re arguing that many are, and those migrants exacerbate our problems. They certainly don’t solve them.
Just to be clear, you’re arguing that if capitalism didn’t exist in Europe, we would be building twice as many buildings per year? This is the dumbest take I’ve read today, and I accidentally landed on r/Politics this morning.
because some young bucks got tired of being fucked, they went all degenerate jihad. 2 million people will have to pay the price, they agreed to this or not.
Almost 70% of Gaza residents support armed attacks on Israeli civilians. There are clearly people who do not support cutting the heads off babies, and I sympathise with them. However they have had decades to leave. They have chosen to remain living shoulder to shoulder with monsters. As for the majority of Palestinians who support murdering and mutilating babies, they deserve to die.
"Hi, my name is Sage and my pronouns are they/them. I'm 22. I don't have a job because jobs are a tool of the patriarchy. I spend my time overeating to suppress the feelings of emptiness cultivated by my hedonistic lifestyle. I like to re-use jokes from 2010 about free speech sounding like freezed peaches because I think it makes me sound funny. I don't know that it makes me sound like an idiot because I'm self-diagnosed as highly autistic."
Maybe the festival-goers were taught their whole lives that Palestinians were peaceful and just wanted their freedom? Maybe they didn't know that Palestinians almost entirely support terrorism to eradicate all Jews? Perhaps we should use this as a good opportunity to educate the whole world: Palestine doesn't want peace. They won't stop until every Jewish person is dead. It is time we stop sending support to Palestine, and treat them like the bloodthirsty terrorists they are.
The 1914 deportations were of Russian Jewish people.
This sounds like you're defending ethnic deportation. It doesn't matter which passport the Jews held. They were expelled.
Only 1/3 of the population that was deported in 1917 were Jewish.
I am clearly and specifically talking about the Jews, not the Muslims or Christians.
Under British rule all the people deported in 1917 were allowed to return.
But they were not given their land and houses back. They were displaced, just like some Palestinians in 1948.
I'm struggling to believe you could argue the ways the Jews were treated is better. If anything, it was much worse. The Palestinians have never been wholesale deported, only displaced within the same nation.
You're making an arbitrary claim as though it's objective. Why is displacement in 1948 justification for historical claim, but expulsion in 1917 not? Beginning 1914 during WW1, many Jews were expelled from Palestine by the Ottoman authorities as enemy nationals, since they had immigrated from countries now at war with the Ottoman Empire. In 1917, the Ottoman authorities carried out the Tel Aviv and Jaffa deportation, expelling the entire Jewish civilian populations of Tel Aviv and Jaffa. Many deportees subsequently died from hunger and disease. Surely those Jews have just as much claim to live in Israel as the Palestinians displaced by the 1947 UN partition plan.
