  • It was okay. Nothing exciting, but one aspect of it that I did like is that you can choose to watch your choices happen in real time after you finish a level, which - although not the smoothest - does actually make it feel like John Wick just rolled through.

  • Japanese people tend to make a big deal out of the "human touch," especially when it comes to service

Aren't they the ones that first came up with robot servers in restaurants? Or maybe that was South Korea?

  • With the prevalence of AI generated images, I'm really curious how they filter out fake evidence from people looking to cash in on that sizeable reward. If it did happen, I hope they get everything they need to ruin that person's life.

  • Well, shit. I pulled out my laptop to grab the scripts and it looks like the extension was updated and it wiped them out. I didn't have them backed up anywhere else, so I guess their gone unless I find myself back on the apps again (please, god, no...).

  • Ireland. I'm a firm believer that if you move to a region that speaks a different language, you need to make a genuine effort to learn that language. After having 3 years of foreign language (including a year of Gaelic when I lived in Ireland as a child for a year), I know it's not my thing, so an English speaking country is a requirement for me. Ireland is gorgeous, and still in the EU. Scotland would also be top of the list if they split from the UK and joined the EU.

  • OkCupid was amazing 15 years ago, but it's pretty shit now. For what OP is looking for, it's probably still the best option, but it's a very low bar.

OP, if you want to check out OkCupid, message me. I can set you up with a couple of browser scripts I wrote to improve the website experience. One will show you your matches' photos. You won't be able to view their profiles, but people that like you will generally show up in the profiles you're shown pretty quickly, so it's easy to find them. The other will need to be slightly tailored to you if you want to use it, but it will automatically skip any profiles that are showing to you that don't meet your minimum requirements, and even alert you if one of them liked you instead of just skipping it, just in case you'd like to give it a closer look before you make a final decision.

Edit: Based on my experience the last time I was on the apps, the best one was Hinge, but I've been off of them for a year now. It's also entirely app based.

  • Yes, a physical copy that is not on sale is often cheaper than a digital copy that is not on sale, but a digital copy that is on sale is often significantly cheaper than a physical copy that is on sale.

The example you gave is a poor one as you're talking about a digital edition with DLC included vs a used physical edition with none of it. Comparing apples to oranges does not help your argument.

  • The thing is that that has nothing to do with Sony, though. Sony gets a 30% cut on game sales. That's the same amount that Valve takes. You can sell your game for however much you want. Sony isn't enforcing high base game prices like Nintendo. I fully support this type of lawsuit against Nintendo. Fuck them.

  • Yes, digital games are by and large more expensive than their disc counterparts a while after release, but digital games also regularly get put on significant sale, which often makes them cheaper than the disc versions. If you're not waiting for sales to buy them, I'm not sure why you're buying them at all.
