  • Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (or rereleased as Tactics Ogre Reborn), to me, is that modernized version of FFT. I like FFT, but I liked that Tactics Ogre game waaaaay better.

  • I'm one of the weird ones who likes Satisfactory over Factorio. I just can't get into Factorio for some reason. Also didn't help that my friends who I tried playing with it -- who all had hundreds of hours in the game -- are the kinds to be like, "No, you're doing it wrong - the correct/efficient the way to do it is this way..." People, let me learn the damn game. I get being efficient, but let me learn on my own for a bit.

But didn't matter, just couldn't get into Factorio.

  • Huh OK, I've been misinformed. Appreciate the correction.

  • Agreed. I didn't hear the interview, but I heard Piastri was pretty heated post-race. Which is highly unusual since that guy is cool as a cucumber pretty much all the time.

Edit: See response. Apparently he wasn't that heated. Still cool as a cucumber though.

  • None of these free speech absolutists are. Other than maybe the ACLU. But the typical "freeze peach" type is never truly about complete free speech for all. It's always "free speech for me and mine; everyone else can shove it."

  • Really? I do enjoy turn-based games, so that's good to know! It's definitely the first-person perspective that I think I just don't care for. The post-nuclear apocalypse setting I'm into. Looking at some pics, I'm kinda reminded of Shadowrun Returns, which I enjoyed. Is that an apt comparison?

  • Fallout 3 was one. I had just transferred to a new college and was dorming. Several of the guys were playing FO3, so I decided to get it, even though I knew almost nothing about FO games. But I knew it'd be something to talk about with people. And it worked, even though I didn't get that far into the game. Made friends; some that 15yrs later I still talk to on occasion. As far as the game itself, I haven't played another FO since; just generally not my kinda game.

My gaming buddies now, who I've known them for several years, have the attention span of goldfish, so I've largely stopped FOMO games purchases. I can't keep spending money on games they'll play for a week or two, or less. Though if it appears there's some longevity, then maybe I'll jump in. Barotrauma and Project Zomboid are a couple where the FOMO eventually won out, but it did pay off. We've sunk hundreds of hours into each game over the last 2-3yrs.

  • Just a heads-up, you're posting in Beehaw right now. And generally speaking, this kinda behavior isn't acceptable around here. Might be worth checking out the Code of Conduct.

  • I'm doing my part!

Wait, what am I doing? Shit.

  • If we're talking about reddit-likes/alternatives, I've tried Imzy (gone sadly), Voat (briefly, and gone thank goodness), and Tildes. Tildes I'm still on.

I lurk Hacker News and Ars Technica's forums. I did sign up for a forum earlier in the year called ResetEra, which is focused on gaming. Still mostly lurk it.

  • When did he even speed in the pitlane? When he was coming in before the red flag?

  • Do not editorialize titles. Preserve the original title when possible; edits for clarity are fine.

I'll leave up this time, but next time please follow the community submission guidelines.

  • Then once you get the plastic down to .0001% or whatever, you can sell it as a homeopathic remedy!

  • Isn't that how it goes with the regular flu shot as well? I've heard it's better to wait until October or so to get it.

  • See, I would love to know how widespead that idea is. I know there are some Trump supporters who are tiring of Trump the person and all the controversy surrounding him, but love the idea of Trump. But do they form a significant number? Polling currently suggets no, but it's also early in the process.

Imagine if Vivek did start rivaling Trump. Could you imagine the shitshow that'd be? Terrifying. I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry.

  • Their username does seem quite on brand.

  • It's hard to say because I'm not a Republican. So while some of the candidates -- basically everyone other than Vivek...and maybe Pence, but even he's pretty traditional as a pol -- seemed fine to me, I'm not they're target audience, right? With Trump still polling ridiculously high compared to any of the field from the last night, that kinda tells me that none of these people stand a chance. I don't even know what it would take for Trump to lose frontrunner status. I'm not even convinced that him going to jail, if it happens, changes that.

Vivek certainly made a splash and definitely falls in with Trump voters. But then why wouldn't Trump supporters just vote for Trump? Is there really a large enough faction of the party or base that can separate Trump from Trumpism? In that they're done with Trump the person but still want Trump the idea? Idk. And like you said, I can't imagine Trump voters willingly voting for a brown man with a "strange name." We saw how people reacted last time a brown man with a "funny name" was actually elected! At least Nikki Haley is able to pass as a white woman, even though she too shares Vivek's Indian heritage.

I suppose we'll see what happens by the next debate in September. The polling requirements to be at the next debate will increase, so I suspect we'll lose at least a couple from last night. Not that it may matter as long as Trump is the frontrunner by a country mile or two.

  • Hi and thanks for sharing. In the future, consider posting the original source articles if you can. The referenced source article from The Daily Beast would've been preferred. Per our guidelines here:

Where possible, post the original source of information.

  • Do not post tabloid or blogspam stories. These will be removed.

  • While the PSA is appreciated, both the submission title AND the article title itself also say "Opinion," right at the beginning. It's clearly and appropriately marked as such.

That said...it might be worth having this discussion on Opinions/OpEds in general. As one one of the mods here, I'm personally OK with Opinion pieces as long as they're clearly marked, as it is here. But I'm curious what others have to say about this.

Are people interested in getting rid of them altogether? Keeping them as long as they're easily marked and easily noticed? Keeping them even if not marked? Don't care?
