  • So, there is a path to citizenship if you serve 3 years, but you have to file the paperwork at that time. If you didn't file it for whatever reason, there is no automatic citizenship for service.

  • I did for a few years, finally think I'm settled on arch for desktop, but for servers, hurry is still out

  • It's not legal in New housing, but removal from old housing isn't required. Though you can use it for other things like insulating kilns or furnaces.

  • For context, this article was published by the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank originally founded by Charles Koch (among others). The fact that these guys are ringing the alarm bell should be a warning unto itself.

https://lp.org/platform-page/ section 3.4 outlines a loose border policy. The US Libertarians may have diverged from most global Libertarian thought, but while shy of open borders, borders aren't something any Libertarian is fond of.

  • Oh for sure, not saying that stuff is better just that it isn't oil. Composting those usually requires extreme heat which causes problems

  • Well my wife could care less about Linux, should probably find a new one...

  • Usually these facilities are quite a ways out of town so they need to run power lines, waste lines, etc... very out of the way. Also this complex is huge so that's probably going to include grading a lot of dirt building up embankments to catch stray rounds, hiring instructors and range safety officers. Someone to man the front desk possibly an initial stock of targets/ammo to sell to people who stop by. It's not an invonsiquential amount of work and effort to build something like this.

  • Historicaly pay goes up under Republicans for military members and stays stagnant under Democrats. There are a lot of other impactful things today to consider like lack of care for trans dependants now taking effect. But really pre-trump Republican was the way to vote for immediate situational improvement as a military member.

  • I don't want to pay to maintain an Abrams, but am quite happy with my insulated electric kettle that has a temperature readout. Can we just skip the tank?

  • Я надираю задницы ради Господа

  • This is why "Command said the latest military zone will be part of the Fort Bliss Army base in El Paso."

Effectively what happened was the land was turned into a part of the base. At every US base there is a line usually shortly before the gate, sometimes only at the fence line where you are considered "on base". Once you are on base military police can arrest you since they have jurisdiction on base. Kinda like how if you commit a crime in an unincorporated area, the sheriff will arrest you, not city cops since that's their jurisdiction.

Frankly though this type of move is unprecedented, as far as I know. While the fed can just give fed land to bases, I've never heard of it happening like this. It's a loophole to keep it legal on paper but not in spirit.
