  • I call bullshit - Let's see a few examples of liberals/democrats getting their faces eaten by policies they support.

"Oh noes, this free college is hurting me" "Oh noes, all this free healthcare, my wallet is too fat"

Just to be obvious here, show me what laws liberals have actually been able to pass just how they championed for, and show me the face eating. I'm waiting.

Inb4 something about an immigrantl/minority/female committing a crime (cause liberals are so pro crime)

  • Let's be real here, google and every other company sells you out to their advertisers instantly and even double dip and triple dip on your info wherever they can. Apple doesn't and they take their security seriously. Feds are always crying about how hard it is to break into iphones, telcos are complaining how apple protects it's users (because telcos have an interest in monetizing those apple users), and the payouts for finding security vulnerabilities for apple products are very high.

Google and apple are absolutely on different ends of the spectrum of user privacy and security

  • Even today I was catching shit from rightwingers about vaccines and general public safety (ie masks and staying home if you feel sick).

It's so fucking frustrating, them and their pseudo science and "health hacks the libs don't want you to know - like drink a cup of water with a lemon to cure a viral infection" crap.

I don't wish illiness and ruin on anyone, but I sure as fuck won't forget when the GoFundMe's start showing up again

  • He clearly cared about his data, don't equate this man to the people who don't really think about it and don't actually back their stuff up (and come crying to everyone when their 10 year old disk dies)

People like to say to use the 3-2-1 backup strategy, which is really good advice, but it does NOT scale, trust me. I guarantee you I have more disposable income than this journalist (I assume that because journalists make shit money), and when I looked into a 3-2-1 solution with my meager 60TB of data, the cost starts to become astronomical (and frankly unaffordable) for individuals.

  • It's like non-security tech savvy people embracing IoT devices throughout their homes - smart bulbs, smart toasters, etc - fucking disaster waiting to happen.

Keeping stuff offline with paper and floppies is exceptional SecOps. It's obviously more work, and ease-of-use is degraded, but if we ever see real cyber warfare, having stuff on paper and/or airgapped storage is the best one can hope for

  • Your right, but I think there is something there. I was watching a girl gamer/streamer (whatever you call them) give an entire talk about how she is against feminists or someshit, and the 4chan crowd were spamming the link and calling her based - so I decided to check it out and it was her complaining about getting drafted, being a triggered armpit hair snowflake, some other dumb shit - really fucking idiotic stuff. (Her name was Brittany venti and something about feminism ruining her life for the curious).

If I didn't know any better, it looks to me to be the alt-right and by proxy, conservative strategists, trying to find the latest wedge issue to attack women and women friendly causes - flinging shit around and seeing what sticks

In my circles of friends, I've been hearing girls make dumb comments about feminism as well, so there is something bubbling under the surface. None of them can articulate anything though

  • Michael Burry (guy from the big short) has been doing the same. We all know climate change is going to fuck us, we all know we are headed towards serious water shortages, etc - these guys also know and have money to position themselves - for what final gameplan I don't know, but at least with Gates his recent history has shown a care for the greater good for humanity at least. Can't say the same for other billionaires.

I know Bills history pretty well, I just see a difference between him now and how he was a ruthless businessman in his prior life. Maybe he has me fooled, but I don't really see it other than people's conspiracy theory stuff. Guys like Elon are another story though

  • I don't know about that. Young ruthless Bill Gates was another person, older and wiser Bill Gates has already achieved richest person in the world, Forbes #1, etc etc - all that's in the rearview mirror - I believe he has awakened and realized it takes a village and he wants his legacy to reflect that

  • Help me understand something - how exactly does US interests benefit from Israel? We have a relationship with the Saudi's (honestly I don't know what's worse), we buy tons of oil (we make tons of oil too), and they all know we will absolutely resort to bullying and violence if need be, so what exactly is the benefit? Fighting off poor freedom fighter Arabs?

I'm trying to figure out if it isn't all just part of the Christian death cult or if there actually is some sort of strategic benefit. We have plenty of bases all over the middle east (I don't actually know anyone stationed in Israel or have ever heard such a thing, unless it's some black site which i assume exists)

  • I'm aware 5G is new hardware and infrastructure, but my point is ISPs And service carriers are one and the same, and there are multiple business models that throttle speeds (ie premium 4G service vs deprioritized cheaper 4G service), fast lanes in 5G, whatever other QCI stuff the carriers are doing - all stuff they don't want to change and my point was they will spend money fighting it in court vs willingly changing anything
