What? Burning bunker oil to ship Chinese made cars across the ocean is better for the planet than manufacturing them domestically?

Have a look at that NAFTA replacement agreement. There's provisions in there specifically to put upwards pressure on Mexican wages.

To add to the national security angle: the auto industry is one of the industries that would be able to pivot to wartime production the fastest (as seen in the world wars). Probably not the first thing on everyone's mind, but I'd bet it's at least part of the consideration.

It's a function of ZFS itself. Data that is to be written to the drives is first written to RAM, then transferred to the drives. One of the benefits of this is that if you are moving a file that is smaller than the available RAM, your transfer won't appear to be limited to the write speed of the drives.

I think it's probably got more to do with the "every accusation is a confession" principle that modern conservatism seems to operate under.

ZFS. It can use up as much RAM as you care to give it for caching. So if you are slinging a lot of data back and forth, more RAM is better. Especially if you are using HDDs instead of SSDs.

The combination of those trees and overhead power lines might be problematic in some climates, but overall, I'm all for getting as much greenery into city centers as possible.

This is an issue I've been noticing across more and more apps and operating systems. It seems like there's no developers out there even willing to consider how their software operates under non-ideal conditions.

I feel like trying to switch to this would cause more problems than it would solve. If you switch to this time system, what do you do about all the other units of measure that include a time component? Either everything has to change, or you have to start using two different time systems.
