In my current job, remote work isn't an option, and I can't tell you how much time I've wasted trying to get engineers and software devs to understand things that would have taken two seconds to understand if they would go physically look at the thing. But of course, they can't do that because they are working remotely. Instead we get to waste half a day playing picture/video tag

All Trump "won" was getting Carney to scrap a policy that wasn't even in force yet, effectively gaining nothing. And there's nothing stopping us from just reimplementing the same policy under some other name that Trump's dumb ass won't even notice.
Doubtful on this one. Keeping the ban in place lets him play up the "belligerent everyman/Captain Canada" image him and his base love so very much. The flip flopping is reserved for shady deals for his developer buddies that he knew were wrong and was just hoping no one would notice.

As a millennial, at no point did we actually want participation trophies. The feeling of coming in last was not changed in the slightest by receiving a junk trophy.

"Capitalism" isn't some self aware entity that you can blame all evils on. It's humans all the way down. And it's not even the cartoon evil type of humans; those are rare. Everyone responsible at each step of the way is terrifyingly ordinary.
Parcel delivery is a service that can be run for a profit (by real couriers like UPS, FEDEX, etc, not those bullishit Amazon couriers). There are other services the government provides that cannot (and should not) be operated for profit (ie healthcare). I would much rather my tax dollars go towards that, rather than operating Canada Post at a loss.
Tax revenue is a fixed size pool of money. Canada Post may not need to make a profit, but it does need to break even. There are many other things that money needs to be spent on.
This whole saga is so incredibly frustrating. You have a situation where things have to change. The management is trying to restructure because the money does not exist to maintain the status quo. The Union refuses to budge, and based on this article, their best solution is to legislate away the competition? Even if that were to happen, it's not Canada Post management that will be making that decision, and it's effects would not be immediate. Does the union just plan to sit at home forever?
If you want to play the blame game, the blame falls on everyone. The right is pushing to make things actively worse, the center is willing to just put up with whatever the current status quo is, and the left would rather spend all their time attacking one another for being the wrong brand of left, rather than actually go out and do something productive.
