Russia may not, but many of the countries currently buying cheap oil from Russia will. If sanctions against India, China, Turkey, etc. result in them halting, or even lowering, payments to Russia then it has the desired effect.

Terrorism is all about terror.

Imagine a major league football or baseball stadium packed to capacity. Two or three drones, each with a relatively small explosive charge surrounded by shrapnel fly in, crash into the spectators, and detonate. You end up with a small number of immediate casualties like what happened at the Boston Marathon. But the stampede of tens of thousands of panicking people trying to rush out of the stadium will probably injure and kill many more. Have a car bomb or two strategically located a couple blocks away where you expect those crowds to run and you’ve succeeded in your terror plans quite nicely…

Is it a bad thing that I read this as “cheap slut”?

And don’t forget that NASA research has lead directly to, or helped to enhance things like:

• firefighting equipment
• insulin pumps
• solar panels
• improved car tires
• freeze dried food
• water purification systems
• memory foam

And so on…

I’m calling it. Pretty soon Trump is going to demand the construction of giant fans along the US/Canada border to blow all the smoke back into Canada.

Not entirely sure what the policy is for these sorts of things, but I do know various countries Coast Guards and Navies will use abandoned boats, lifeboats, etc. for target practice. It actually serves a couple of purposes, including live fire training. It also ensures the boat will sink, which means other boats won’t spot it, call it in, and cause an unnecessary search & rescue operation all over again for the same vessel. It’s also far safer for the crews to just sink it than it is to tow it. And if they’re busy towing one of these in then it means hours or even days where they can’t be out patrolling and responding to emergencies, etc.

Having said all that I could see them wanting to keep a sub like this since it’s demonstrating a new tactic. Investigators might want to take a close look at how it’s put together. If it wasn’t for that then I could see them just scuttling it after they recovered any drugs (not that there were any in this case).

Among other things, since moving to a more rural part of our state, we have uncovered these items that I assume the previous owners dumped in the woods around us:

• A 1960-ish era chainsaw
• A car battery
• Rusty pipe
• Jugs full of what looks like motor oil
• Empty plastic bottles
• A large roll of some sort of material like landscaping cloth that is overrun with moss & roots now.
• A rechargeable battery for power tools
• What appears to be the bed cover for a pickup truck
• Loads of other smaller plastic scraps

Lastly, the official instance is behind cloudflare, so all your login credentials are going to CF before it reaches piefed servers. CF is most likely tracking users too. This is a no-go if you give a shit about privacy. But with a CDN, yes it connects faster.

I honestly don’t get why people always complain about this. The exact same thing can be said of the CDN services provided by Akamai, Amazon (AWS), Google, Microsoft, Fastly, and every other CDN in existence. If you don’t trust CDN’s then you should stop using the internet since most major sites use one CDN or another.

If you really want to be paranoid about your data being sniffed then you should be more concerned about companies that use services like SiteSpect. They basically operate as a MITM on your unencrypted data between the CDN provider and your origin, and their tools are specifically designed to modify that content.

In 1960 the US DEW Line mistakenly thought the Soviet Union had launched a nuclear strike when it detected the moon rising. Luckily cooler heads prevailed when the radar operators quickly realized both the reported launch locations and target locations were crescent shapes and moving east to west as the moon rose.

Except:

• When mud, snow, bug splatters, etc. blinds a camera I can very likely still see perfectly fine out of clear part of the windshield. I can move my eyes, the camera can’t move.
• Sun glare will blind some cameras (even side cameras) when it’s low in the sky. The same sun wont bother me at all.
• I’ve seen the cameras get tricked by things in front of it like a trailer full of tree branches & other landscaping debris that hangs over the back and obscures the brake lights & license plate.

Yeah, but can I also occasionally hallucinate like many AI’s apparently do?

It’s pretty easy to clear out a collapsed tunnel compared to completely rebuilding an underground facility full of high tech equipment.

I have a nephew that worked at Tesla as a software engineer for a couple years (he left about a year ago). I gave him the VIN to my Tesla and the amount of data he shared with me was crazy. He warned me that one of my brake lights was regularly logging errors. If their telemetry includes that sort of information then clearly they are logging a LOT of data.
