  • Thats only a short term solution, global warming will negate those benefits.

Southern ocean currents just reversed and will likely cause rapid warming of water temps.

  • My understanding is that traditional AI essentially takes a bruteforce approach to learning and because it is hardwired, its ability to learn and make logical connections is impaired.

Newer technologies like organic computers using neurons can change and adapt as it learns, forming new pathways for information to travel along, which reduces processing requirements and in turn, reduces power requirements.

  • Our previous governments have tied us to the US so tightly that we may as well be a US vassal state. Whatever America's foreign policy is, is Australia's policy. Our military is dependent on the US for its equipment.

It would be great to have more ties to the EU and SE Asian counties but thats unlikely to happen unfortunately.

  • Spent some time in a similar situation earlier this year in Aus. Wasn't strip searched but they check everything you bring in, turn out your pockets and confiscated phone charging cables, shoe laces, belts and drawstrings from pants. Also not allowed to take bags onto the ward.

It's a safety measure for everyone's sake: staff, patients and visitors. Its not necessarily that you would be a danger to others, as other patients stealing something and doing something dangerous.

Don't know about the US but there is no way the hospitals over here are buying body scanners with their shoestring budgets.
