I definitely recommend people check out Youtube Premium if you hate ads and use YT a lot on smart TVs and mobile where ad-blocking is more difficult.
The majority of my video watching time is YT and I primarily do it on my phone or TV, so it is worth it for me. I wish I could cut out YT Music and save some money while using a music streaming service I prefer though.
I like Premium, but hate YT Music. I'd rather use another music platform, but YT prices the subscription perfectly so it just doesn't make sense to use anything else.
But considering my watch time I'd say YT is probably my most used subscription.
I've heard about this life hack for years, but I don't want to risk my primary Google account since my mail is attached. I have to create an acct strictly for YT and try that.
I remember hearing from LTT (whose name is now in the mud) that YT Premium views do pay significantly more. It's just that there aren't many YT Premium subscribers compared to non-paying users.
So is Comet and Narwhal. Something weird went on with this whole thing. It seems like reddit wanted to kill the popular apps that were actually being used by people, but the smaller ones are fine.
It is mind boggling to me that in the year 2023 we're complaining about porn, LGBT existence, and fucking book content. Isn't this what we were laughing at 20 years ago? About book burnings and how stupid the previous generations were for fearing and banning media that challenged them?
There's something about the after taste of NA beer that irritates me. I've found a few I like (Heineken and Athletic Brewing) but even they have some weird aftertaste that I can't put my finger on. Maybe its the lack of alcohol that makes it taste off.
IDK exactly what the "world" can do here. The Taliban is the legit government of Afghanistan now (well, maybe legit should be in quotes). Do people want another war to take out the Taliban? That didn't go so well the first time. And there are already sanctions on the Taliban's government but other countries are still willing to trade with them.
I don't see any international fix working here. There needs to be internal change. Whether that's reform, coup, or whatever.
I imagine it wouldn't be profitable at all, but I would love services like flights, resturants, movies, etc that were adult only. Would be nice to just not have to deal with it.
It's unavoidable and a part of life you just have to deal with though. You roll your eyes, you turn up the noise cancelling on your headphones and you deal with it. But at the same time, parents should do all they can to keep their kids quiet and well behaved and maybe consider whether flights before their child is even a toddler are the best idea.
For me at least, there’s just not enough content. Not enough communities, with not enough posts with not enough comments. Lemmy still hasn’t reached that tipping point where it can replace sites like Reddit. It fluctuates, but I think it is on the way.
There’s also not much people can do besides trying these work arounds and trying alternative options. YouTube has been the biggest video host for a decade for a reason, so a true alternative will take time.
I assume just for verified users? A good way to weed out bots, and only suckers, grifters and sex workers with no better options are verified anymore anyway. So limited harm.
The point is not really the money. The point is the headline and the fact that there are remedies for when you can't pay a judgement. Like others said, his wages will be garnished forever. And this is one of the largest civil judgements ever. That plus the salacious nature means that anytime this guy's name is searched for, it will be beside this. It won't leave him.
Until we get better laws for things like revenge porn where there are actual criminal penalties, this is probably the best we can do.
He's also now infamous just like he threatened to make his ex. Every time anyone Googles him, this is what will come up. It is kind of fitting in that way.
As for why not prison, it's hard to put people in jail for something like this. I assume that's the reason why this went to civil court rather than the criminal court.
This is the second time in the last few years I think. They're starting to turn the screw.
