I get the feeling you've not been told about all the death and disease Native Americans experienced in reservations, especially at the beginning. The only real difference is reservations did not have buildings...they were just wastelands.

There are villages in NE...I think maybe there aren't a ton, they have very small populations, and most people don't live in them, so they don't know what the difference is.

There definitely are villages throughout the USA, but I lived near some in NE specifically. They do not have their own police or much government...and are significantly smaller than a town.

Stew or Roast

Pkt of either stew or roast seasoning (or brown gravy pkt if you're out of the other stuff)

Meat, cut up for stew or whole for roast

Potatoes, cut however you prefer

Baby carrots on top

That's it.

Slow cook on low all day or high for 4 hrs.

Use the juice to make gravy (add a little cornstarch or flour and bring to a boil)

And I genuinely wish you all the luck in doing so. The defender should have the luck against the aggressor. I hope the USA either gets its shit together or unceremoniously implodes. I want as few collateral damage as possible.

Then we figure out how insignificant we are individually and start pulling as a team...maybe make a country worth having for once.

Those people are really not paying attention to history at all. There is definitely a reason people want to bomb us. We earned that hate.

But that only works if you have enough money to completely relocate...and then you're leaving the country slightly crappier than before. But I don't blame my friends for leaving. They aren't safe here anymore...

Truth.

I've got kids and pets and I work with kids at an emergency shelter. Getting locked up means I could lose my job, which means I'd lose my shelter and my pets, maybe my kids...all because I decided to protest something that no politician in my area will even pay attention to.

I do protest sometimes, but I'm waiting. When there are things I can help with, I do that. But I'm not traveling several hours to get to a protest so I can get beat by cops, arrested, and potentially lose everything. This is a marathon, not a sprint...and I need to be able to help those who are already being left behind.

But my heart is with those who can protest. I share their stories when I see them. I make signs for them and have a kit to help anyone who gets hurt during a local protest. I walk and protest myself when I'm able...but yeah, I can't go to every single one.

Hey...just need to put this out there.

I'm sorry my government has the dumb. I am so, so embarrassed by how things are going and how horribly rude my so-called "leaders" are being to literally everyone.

I am not like that. I respect you and your country. I want to cry when I think about how Zelenskyj has been treated. I know many, many people just like me. We are NOT like our government. We are scared. Some of us are trying to get out of the country, but many of us literally cannot...for a host of reasons, many of which involve how little money we have been able to save while this is all happening.

I'm just so sorry. Not that this fixes anything. I'm just desperate to tell SOMEONE that. I hope you have a good day...and rest easier knowing I echo every sentiment of your post.

Art Therapist. I am the services director at a youth shelter. I oversee the art therapy and psychology interns and the other staff, making sure we are providing the appropriate services (shelter, life skills, therapy, case management, fiduciary, etc) and are generally meeting the needs of our clients.

Additionally, I get to be the handy man...because stuff needs to get done and I'm the one with the drill and willingness to climb a ladder.

I got my current job due to my degree in art therapy. But before that, I worked in an embroidery shop. My kids have special needs and I wanted to be available for them while they were young. I replied to an ad for an embroidery specialist (without any training), and they hired me to run the shop based on me having a good work history, good education, and the expectation that I would be around for a while.

TL;DR. Most places just want to see that you're dependable and willing to work hard. Build up that reputation and you can branch out into different fields a little. Just apply to anything you are interested in. Good luck!!

Someone else already said it, but I agree so strongly, I gotta restate...Reservation Dogs...heart-warming and with great character arcs.

It is so unbelievably good...on Hulu. Well worth checking out!

Pushing Daisies is simply delightful and whimsical.

The Magicians is an epic story with highly entertaining characters and a full storyline with an actual ending.

Loudermilk is a witty and heartfelt look at people trying to get by while also dealing with their alcoholism.

Sandman is masterfully done, a visual treat, regardless of whether you're a fan of the comic.

Have you tried graphic novels? Comic books get a bad rap, but there is dialog and pictures that help you get into the story. Maybe that would help?
