My dude, I'm sitting here in Kansas, and I've watched our Democrat governor save our asses over and over from all kinds of insane bullshit that comes out of our Republican legislature. Certainly, the Dems could do more, but to say they're exactly the same on the abortion issue, or on many other issues, is to deny reality.
Agreed. A lot of those views seem to have genuinely softened as he aged (after all, he actively championed gay marriage during the Obama admin), but still, there is a lot of unsavory shit from his time as a senator, and it does take a lot of effort to reconcile that.
I've had a lot of people pull the "It's just politics, why are you so mad?" card, especially after Trump won. Just shows this is all a game to them, that they do not give a shit about the consequences of their actions.
Most of the ones who did it to me were straight white people though, so they were insulated by their privilege. It takes a whole other level of delusion to play that game when you're one of the minorities these assholes target.
If January 6 wasn't enough to convince you the future of this country is on the line, and if Project 2025 isn't enough, I just don't know what to tell you.
The Democrats stink on ice, sure. They're a bunch of ineffectual morons, and they only show it more and more every time they push the responsibility to fight this threat onto the voters. But that doesn't change the fact that the threat is real, and even if the Democrats won't act like it is, we must. If we want there to be a 2028 election, we must make sure the Republicans lose the 2024 one.
If Biden drops out, it's an open convention. The party can put Harris or anyone else forward as their preferred candidate, but the delegates aren't pledged to them the way they currently are to Biden. Anything could happen at that point, really.
Literally the point of minimum wage is that it's minimum. It should be the bare minimum we would give anyone for taking time away from their lives for the benefit of a company, regardless of the amount of work done.
Frankly, if we're going to start adjusting pay based on the quantity and difficulty of work done like that, we are going to need to start paying frontline retail workers a lot more, and CEOs and the like a lot less.
I'll be proud of America again when America starts being the place my parents, teachers, etc. told me it was. The place where all are created equal, where anybody can succeed, where you can be anything you want to be, where the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free can come to live their dreams.
Right now, I feel like I was sold a bill of goods, and the lie only becomes more obvious with every passing day.
That. If Biden were literally dead, and Harris and Buttigieg were literally behind him puppeteering him around Weekend at Bernie's style, I'd still fucking vote for him over Trump.
If Trump wins, American democracy dies. God knows it's already on its last legs.
