Been on it for about 19 months now, it's what Android should be.

Even the play store is sandboxed. Those stupid games covered in ads, no where near as bad when the app never has a network connection or access to any files outside its directory.

Umm... Around the year 2000 I worked at a couple of different convenience stores in the south, ours were never cleaned, shit they were rarely changed with the exception of Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper because our regulars would tear through them. I remember the lines being clear...ish? They had the embedded nylon or whatever in the clear tube but ours were way nastier than my 18 year old brain wanted to realize.

I'd definitely agree, solid ground and a tent would make putting them in the sleeping bag a bit less important (plus then you can use them as a pillow). Having them in our bag was just something I was taught in basic training and it worked well the few times I have woken up with frost or ice on my outer shell (all Army related "camping").

In the decades since I've slowly shifted from big tents to a small travel trailer, it's so much better on my joints lol.

Overall I liked a couple things I hadn't thought of (NGOs), but the end of the article... that just sounded like any other consultancy service to me. Perhaps that's too harsh but it doesn't feel like a new career field (just my opinion).

Just to toss this out there, don't put your clothes actually under the sleeping bag unless the goal is wet clothes. Definitely strip down in your sleeping bag though, this way you don't sweat all night and have warm/dry clothes to put on before climbing out in the morning. There have been mornings I've had to crack the ice off my outer shell and been fine climbing out. Seems like a lifetime ago but that was what we were taught in the Army... now I have a small camper because... well because I don't want to have an extra soreness when I wake up lol.

That's messed up. Just on the basis of it being a picture of a different door is grounds for a refund, that clearly shows they did not deliver it to the address they were paid to deliver it to. Super frustrating and I hope it all gets worked out for you.

Yep, I have a box with all my cell phones (as well as my wife's phones) going back to 2005 when I was able to get my first one. Man I miss my Razor v3 and the OG Motorola Droid, at least I can still look at them.

Still rocking a Pebble Steel from a decade ago, I tried a fitbit and Galaxy one but this Pebble has outlived them all. Thankfully I managed to find a silicon band for it when the leather one finally gave up on me.

Years ago my neighborhood was wired for fiber, well all except for 24 of our houses because it wasn't profitable, copper still came on our side though... Now that's been turned off so the 24 of us have the option of cable or wireless.

Having to stare at a coil of fiber across the street on the end of the pole (not even buried fiber, its on the damn poles) while I enjoy overpaying for 48Mbps... so fast it must be high speed (seriously debated a wireless link to the house across the street but I'm a stickler for the rules).

I know you mentioned Nextcloud and if you happen to already be running it you can use the add-on/module/whatever called Secrets, its exactly what you describe. You make note, send link (can password protect if you want) and once its been viewed its gone.

If you don't already have Nextcloud, check out vaultwarden's (bitwarden) send feature.

I think being able to summon a 60 ton object falling from orbit could do a bit more than kill just one person. Definitely an interesting use though!

I'm not a Bing fan either because it used to be regurgitated Google results. For now I'm just self-hosting an instance of SearXNG.

Copilot is pretty good for Azure stuff though, really I just like it because it always has links back to Microsoft's documentation (even though it's constantly changing).

I used to use it... I thought it would take you straight to the first result (but it's been a long time since I used it)... Now all the top results are hot garbage.

Cherry Rootbeer tastes a lot like Dr Pepper to me... When we would run out at the store I worked at out of high school I'd just get Barq's and add a bit of cherry flavor from our defunct Icee ripoff machine.

Do you signal before you observe what may or may not be where you are wanting to go? Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I don't signal until I've observed where I'm going and determined if it can be done safely. People driving for miles with their turn signal on make me worried (you can never tell if they are planning to go now, later, after their invited, or if they just forgot it was on).

I'm just trying to see my kid through college and then I'm ready for something simpler. Goatops.com (well a copy/paste from before the site existed) made me chuckle and planted the seed, now I'm in the actual consideration stage of it.

I'm okay with servers being shut down eventually, my issue is we don't know when. If they want to call it a license and that it will be revoked later, well fucking plan it out and tell people. Did the game get cheaper as the clock ran down? Did the people buying 10 years of access pay more than people that only got to play it once? I'm pissed for the people like me that sometimes take a few years to get to playing their games only to find the servers are gone and they thought they were buying something (or at least licensing something) they would get to use.

Of course they would probably find that if they told people how long they could use it, a lot of people wouldn't pay them for it (i.e. their business would fail without intentionally deceiving their customers).
