  • I just rewatched Minority Report a couple weeks ago for some reason. There was this scene where Tom Cruise had to get a new set of eyes because he got automatically identified everywhere. Everyone in the movie was constantly bombarded with personalized ads everywhere they went.. That movie is over 20 years old and they knew exactly what was coming. Fucking scary shit...

  • I think default mint is cinnamon

  • Really straight ginger?

  • DDG is miles ahead of Brave. But the company behind it has a deal with MS to feed them user data. They're transparent about it and the motivation isn't nefarious. But still, it's a thing. Now obviously, FF has deal with google, so I guess it's more of a "pick your poison" situation

  • I've set up my old phone to forward me 2fa sms messages from my burner sim cards to my actual phone. Allows me to keep my phone number private. Pretty easy to set up with something like macrodroid.

  • I almost never see FreeFileSync mentioned in those threads. It's the only GUI based app I know that also gives you options to not copy file deletions for example. Also has the option to be automated with crontab. Backups are not fragmented or repackaged so you can browse them just fine. Encryption can be done with Veracrypt.

  • That is the quote that stayed with me the most after 30 years of gaming. Also, fuck the Blades.

  • Ootb. I will never use a phone that hasn't been degoogled.

  • I'd be curious as well. Extensions are a good way to get fingerprinted, so I'm reluctant to use anything more than uBlock

  • Additionally to what people have said, I have set up several banking accounts with different banks. That way, no bank has the full picture of what I earn or how much I spend.

  • I couldn't deal with their electron desktop client, so I ended up with QOwnNotes. Gread QT app for fellow KDE enthusiasts

  • Great way to put it. Reminds me of 40k lore. Does that make Steve Huffman the God-Emperor?

  • I love turn-based, it's my favourite fight mechanic. Like I mentioned, it's the childish over the top slapstick story I have an issue with. Are the other entries more mature?

  • I appreciate OPs opinion but I disagree with it. I played Like a Dragon because the game and the whole series comes so highly recommended. Man oh man is it not for me. The characters are cartoonishly one dimensional, the plot has the depth of a childrens anime and the so called humour is cringeworthyly bad. I had to stop after 3-4 hours. I already got told I need to power through get to the meat of the game to appreciate it. I just don't have the time or the will to suffer for hours in the hopes that it gets better.

  • Maybe graphically, but the gameplay is nothing like GoW

  • Venetica: old eurojank action RPG. It shows its age and the jank is real. But underneath all that is a fresh theme, cool atmosphere and interesting story. Also, it's 1€ during the Steam sale.

  • Dude, you were quick to forget about the reddit threads of "hidden gems", where the top voted answers were Skyrim, Witcher 3 and RDR2.

This is a gold mine in comparison...

  • sudo btrfs filesystem label

I did do just that to no avail. No error message either. I managed to find this however:

"btrfs filesystem show" works. I do not know what "lsblk requires a udevadm trigger" means but I'll look into it

  • eggs benedict

Dude, I'm gonna be super controversial right now, just to tick you off...

Doughy base with toppings and sauce? Remind you of anything? What if eggs benedict are just a type of pizza? Ever think about that?
