  • If Fullmetal Alchemist cut out the super anime bits I would like it much better. The over exaggerated faces, the # forehead, going chibi, dramatically dropping animation quality. It was really hard for me to get through some elements of that show. I honestly think it was more of the fandom that ruined it for me, because whenever one of those anime tropes happened it reminded me of people who made those tropes their personality and I would be hit by a wave of cringe.

  • I used the wrong word and you had no idea what I was talking about, you got me. Debating a word over Greek vs Latin origin on what suffix to use in the English language, which is always consistent and true to its root words, is worthy of such pedantry. I concede.

  • Mountain lions have like 30 different names and no one gets into entomology fights about them. If there is no scientific standard name like birds have use whatever makes the most sense to you or your audience.

  • Right, when there is this much controversy over a plural there will never be a consensus, especially when it doesn't actually matter. The truth is that as long as people understand what you mean it doesn't matter what you use.

  • Ya, this is the best video I could find to show what I'm talking about ~7min in, ignore the inspirational text if you want:

You can see the water beading up instead of absorbing, and sometimes just bouncing off completely. If the bird roused (shook) it would be pretty dry.

  • I used one of these stores like 5-6 years ago, maybe more. It was basically a pop up shop so it was pretty new. It took like 15-20 minutes for me to be charged. I'm positive now that it was some poor Indian watching me because it took so long.

  • I have birds that I keep outside in the summer, sometimes they will just sit in the rain even though they have plenty of covered areas. All birds have an oil gland that they use to run an oil over their feathers to keep them in good order and different levels of waterproof depending on species. Most birds can sit in the rain for a while without actually getting wet.

But ya, birds can get wet and cold but they are usually adapted to their environment to not get too cold or too wet.

  • You're giving some of these people way too much credit. I work IT and I deliberately avoid watching some people whose job it is to use a computer use a computer. Any deviation from the norm and they are lost. ANY deviation. I've seen people get confused when a box opens up in a different spot. I completely understand that everyone has different skill sets but some people have not progressed very far into their skill tree.

  • Pretty much all boards will either have lights, beeps, or both. OEM builds will usually have them on the front IO ports (Dell usually has A/B/C lights). I don't think I've ever seen a board with nothing. Some are more cryptic than others (Lenovo has an app for their laptops that decodes the weird noises they make) but they should have something.

  • I'm not sure KG was upset by anything. KG was in the tenacious d movie and I feel like if he liked doing movies it would be easy for him to do bit parts in movies with JB. Also they made fun of this in a song they did so it can't be too serious of an issue:

  • I think you are focusing way too hard on tricking being negative, when it doesn't have to be. Example:

"Pick up these toys" - direct, boring, likely to be ignored.

"Can you dance the whole time you are putting toys away?" - fun, presents a challenge to overcome, at least maybe burning some energy.

The second one could be considered a trick, but it's not dismissive or mean and it teaches that chores can be made fun.
