The issue is not so simple. Blocking BYD has a lot to do with protecting American manufacturing jobs. That's not to say Biden's tariff was the right answer. But it is a more complicated problem to solve than it appears from the perspective of a single car buyer.
I mean, you can't be complicit if you voted for Kamala because she has and had zero say on foreign policy. A vote for Biden 2020, sure. So one is only complicit if they voted for Trump.
Sadly, all it will take is some CEO to publicly state "I didn't intend to pollute the environment. I dumped dangerous chemicals into nature because I wanted more money. Yes, I knew my actions would modify the weather, as this legislation states. But that was not my express purpose. My purpose was to be able to afford my 17th yacht so my peers would accept me."
Back in 1997 I worked overnight at a bank running their backup software. Lots of sitting around being bored. I took it upon myself to change the Windows 95 startup logo to say Windows 96 on a number of computers. Someone out there remembers Windows 96.
To be fair, the American senate and house were not built to operate under blind fealty to a single party over country. Moving legislation quickly would require a strong majority. Without that it is a slow crawl or entirely unmoving. Holding up progress barely requires anything more than a single person, too. Which sucks entirely for general society which naturally sees progress.
I can honestly say I have spent less than an hour in my life on all of those added together. Probably less than 10 minutes. Does that mean I am winning?
I am sure many of the comedians out there are calling Rosie to offer material.
