  • China does something similar, but they used pandas

    Takenoko intensifies

  • Darkest Dungeon?

  • On the SNES, all of the games below have coop:

    • Tiny Toons Wild and Wacky Sports - a collection of several silly minigames as some sort of tournament, with minimum scores that need to be reached. No direct violence between players, only cartoon shenanigans like falling down a cliff, snowballing after tripping while skiing, etc. (Maybe show the kid some of the old cartoons as well, if s/he enjoys, I'm sure the game will be more interesting to him/her)
    • Super Bomberman - Might count as "violent", since you're bombing weird looking enemies, but it's a formula that rarely gets old and plays great as co-op. Your kid might enjoy 3 and 4 the most, with the variety of mounts to be had (if your rpi can run NeoGeo games, Neo Bomberman is also a great choice)
    • Top Gear - Racing game with one of the best soundtracks in the console. Top Gear 3000 goes to space and has plenty of options for upgrading your car.
    • Secret of Mana - Might count as "violent", especially as you start off with a sword and kill cute bunny-thing enemies. An action RPG that, once you get the 2nd character, it can be played with the 2nd controller. Drop-in/drop-out, so you can easily join and leave while your kid plays or vice versa. The same applies for Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3)
    • Magical Quest 2 and 3 - Disney games that are best when played cooperatively (the first lacks coop). Starts off easy enough and you get new costumes that give special powers, which help you out in the stages going forward. It's "Disney violence" how you beat most enemies (jumping on their heads, spinning them against one another)
    • Kirby Super Star and Dreamland 3 - Both allow for a second player to join in and help. Dreamland 3 has a very unique and cute looking style.
    • International Super Star Soccer - If you're into normal football (soccer), this is easily the best of its kind for the 16-bit era
    • NBA Jam - Also available on the Mega Drive, dunno which version is better. BOOM SHAKA LAKA!!
  • I think there’s also a button the active player can press to switch out.

Either A or Select. On DKC 2 and 3, A gets the other monkey on the 1st's back, so you can throw them at an enemy or on a platform. 2 and 3 also feature a 2 player "competitive" mode, with each player going 1 life or 1 stage

  • And you didn't even blow

  • I know the 2 games below have 2 player couch coop. Not sure if you can play with 4p local on EDF

    • Dynasty Warriors 8 - beat up soldiers by the hundreds while watching Romance of 3 Kingdoms as a 3D anime. "Complete Edition" but still has fuckloads of DLC skins which aren't worth it. Or just buy and pirate the actual complete thing later.
    • Earth Defense Force 5 - Kill giant insects and aliens with building-destroying firepower. The story and narration in 5 takes itself too seriously, but it has many quality of life improvements over 4, which is overall a funnier game with the best infantry sing-along
  • Last week, as this discussion was getting media attention, Meta said that "most of those posts only stay up for 4-8 hours before the (uploader) deletes it, before we've had time to review"

Dunno how truthful that statement is, but that really shows how easy it is to game their system

  • Dots!

    Jump
  • Deliciously ever-hot orange pie

  • Right now at least, AI is being more of a headache than anything in coding. Microsoft itself was responsible for one such gaffe in May, as an actual coder had to tell the AI to fix an error, again and again, as each time it'd make a different mistake

  • The main problem is that the platforms have a money incentive to keep spam and scam posts online. They pay meta and TikTok for boosts, the scam gets boosted, all done.

Frankly, it seems like the problem could be solved by forcing the platforms to get a Know Your Customer level of information and putting that info on every boosted post, so people know who's paying for that.

Buuuut, it's Brazil. Justice and fairness only ever happen as side effects from judges' decisions

  • Any influencer that relies on YouTube ad money won't make the full jump.

Other than that, they'll very quickly find out that keeping a video focused service running and serving 10k views daily (300k/mon) is very expensive both in storage and bandwidth.

  • LineageOS works on a bunch of non google phones

  • Wrong root password, this incident will be reported

  • Gonna play it out this weekend, hopefully. Looks like an interesting load of new content

  • The perfect seasoning for your electrical needs

  • Everything that Novaling said applies.

For people that like to go on long rants or post lots of pictures in a single post, Misskey (and Sharkey, a common fork) allow servers to set custom text limit, with some having 5k characters, others 99k, it also allows markdown on posts, so you can use bold, italics, headers and whatnot, and you can post more than 4 pictures (mstdn's limit) per post.

The main the downside in my opinion, the browser pages running *key are absurd CPU hogs and can crash your browser. I also only know one android app that connects to these instances, Pachli.

  • Easy to find sharkeys, tho ;)

  • Sounds like you've been led to see girls and women as "alien" for whatever reason. Understanding the why of that could help us help you, or more importantly, help you help yourself.

So, why didn't you have any meaningful conversation with any woman relatives, school or work colleagues in so long?

  • Pretty sure Canada and Mexico are closer than Yurop and should allow you to get cheaper healthcare

  • Interestingly, I've recently watched Real Life Lore's video on the topic. It's from 2 months ago and later in the video, it talks about the last batch of western foreigners that got in and how the regime almost immediately regretted letting them record and talk as much as they did.

There was also a S. Korean resort ran by Hyundai, from 1998 to 2008, which got shut down and nationalized after an incident had the N. Koreans shoot and kill Park Wang-ja, a 53 year old woman.
