No, and it confuses me to no end why people don't understand this, but it's because we have guns.

Taking away the guns doesn't make people reconsider their decision to murder people, they just reconsider the tool.

Murdering people indiscriminately is incredibly easy and there are a wide variety of tools for any psychopath to choose from.

Bombs can be made very easily from a huge plethora of materials. Hell we had a local bomber that murdered and maimed a dozen people with nothing but lithium batteries and some components from Fry's.

A handful of hijackers flew a couple of planes into some buildings and killed thousands.

It's so ridiculously easy, you're just not going to stop someone who desires that kind of carnage by taking away a single tool (even if you could do that successfully).

Our country has had a culture of gun owners since it's inception, but only in the last ~30 years did we start to see a change in mass shootings, and it was not gun ownership or access to guns, because that has only gotten more difficult.

We need to treat the disease. The lack of income growth. The growing expectations of workers. Inequality of opportunity. Mental health. These are the hard things that will actually impact gun violence (and every other type of violence).
