Just to give another perspective, the German part of the internet is still full of extremely niche bulletin board-style forums for every hobby/technology imaginable. Many have millions of posts and have been online for 20+ years. Seems to me like it's mostly the English-speaking web that's been affected by these large content aggregators and closed platforms like Discord.
I have used a GTX1080 for years. There have been minor issues under Wayland but it worked pretty much flawless with Xorg. Just set up the proprietary Nvidia drivers and you're good to go. The only thing to keep in mind is your temps, because the drivers (still) do not support dynamic down-clocking and so you're sitting at the highest clock rate by default.
I've started a second playthrough of Kingdom Come Deliverance and really enjoying it so far. I recently upgraded my PC and expected to be able to play it on "Ultra" settings but I'm still stuck with 40-70 FPS on high. The game is beautiful but it's also horribly optimized lol
The dealership won't do it but most independent workshops probably will. You might get into trouble with your warranty though if there's ever an electric issue, the disconnected unit will show up as a fault code during diagnostics.
Yeah I know, I'd just like to know how they are different. I imagine some of it has to do with controller compatibility and steam features such as overlay and achievement integration?
I know that wine and proton are not the same thing, which is why I specifically ran my tests with the Proton Experimental version that is downloaded through Steam in both launchers. I tested it again with GE-Proton8-14 and the results were largely the same: Most games ran just fine, but some wouldn't launch in Lutris and would instead work through Steam.
I agree, the first Equalizer was the kind of movie that you can just mindlessly watch and still be entertained. The second one was the kind that is so ridiculous that it just takes you out of the movie every few minutes. And not in a "so bad it's good" kind of way.
It's just hosted on their home instance. If all the content would be synced, it would be impossible to set up smaller and personal instanced without massive storage capacities.
