adding my voice to the mix. I have always advocated blocking. My experience with mmo chat taught me that a cesspool can turn into a pretty nice place with some blocking. My basic rule is subscribe to what I like and block what I don't and everything else im indifferent to. don't like sports then block those communities. like comics and subscribe to those. indifferent to animal pictures then let it lie and you will see them when you browse all.

  • says the .ml person commenting on .world. it does not matter what any particular places people is like unless they defederate from each other. @Tedesche@lemmy.world is talking about his experience and is likely not seperating out where users come from. in addition anyone can make a user on any open instance. I actually would like to see more closed instances that are about a particular local groups like sci fi conventions or makerspaces and such.

  • yeah I would not mind an email system that would allow me to add notes without it effecting the chain. So I could still reply all and the notes would stay with the chain but no one would see them.

  • This is one of the best chatgpt analysis I have seen but I have not used it in awhile. I have just been using microsofts and googles figuring they all keep at about the same level. Granted I never really ask it to do some sort of political thing since it has no practical value so that might just be why I don't generally see something like it.

  • I really have to agree with the other replies on this one. While technically no one is a nazi but the og nazis there is nazi fanboys and between musks tweets and his salute its not at all like this person is worse than hitler or this person is a nazi because they are authoritarian you might have had in the past.

  • I mean sure but again that is akin to ebay. ebay is amazone without the warehouses, shipping, and logistics intelligence and organization. so anyone that wants to avoid amazon could use ebay right now but they don't because they want the benefits of the fast shipping and returns and such. again I think having some sort of federated marketplace would be great but it would in no way be like ordering from amazon.

  • There is no real point. You did not seem to get what the other person said and so I added it to make it a bit more clear on why its not an amazon replacement because amazon does so much more. Its just sorta how conversations involving a few people work. Im not just talking about the last thing you said but about the whole read down the line.

  • nothing outside of what the other person said. it would be more akin to federated ebay rather than federated amazon and still will lack some of ebays benefits. Don't get me wrong I think its a good idea viewed in that way. I mean better than craigslist which is not even federated.

  • I get what you mean because I was the same way. I prefered a folder structure but I recently came around. Thing is that you don't need to remember all tags. It will just help it narrow the field in a search but everything tagged health will be in the health bucket (folder) and everything in bank is in bank. if you filter for everything in bank and health you will get a smaller return to find what you want so basically remember more tags will help you find the item but just remembering a few will be good enough.
