Unfortunately, that's probably true for the whole world order.

I want to hope that the new one will be better, but oftentimes history tends to disagree with that notion. Yet I'll remain fighting for a better tomorrow.

The masses like convenience until it isn't anymore. Nothing can be done, but pay the price and move forward at this point.

Also noteworthy, is that this " critical dependency " was strategically pushed as well ( part of the NATO deal so to speak). Although, many don't want to actively speak up about it (lemmy post)

I mean apart from the logic of sanctions, those shadowfleet boats are "environmental disaster" ticking timebombs. They are not very safe or seaworthy.

Some of them have extreme strange huge anchors, which tend to drag 100 km across the oceanfloor and mysterously break critical communication cables in Europe and so. Others have dubious highend technical devices on board.

Nice detail is that somehow they end up being owned by a Hong Kong Ltd.

Yips, in Europe we probably need to decouple essential ( software) tech asap.

If I were to place a date for when USA started it's downward slope I'd say around the end of the 90s. Thereafter the turningpoints were 9/11, covid 19, and finaly 2025.

but i think you have the wrong community for this topic.(...) We already tried on making a "Bias fact check Bot aggregator" but it got.... i would say best case not welcomed.

I wouldn't know which other forum I could use, as my question is to Mods and members.

The mediafact bot was unfortunately not very popular and not the most user friendly experience. But before it's introduction, most unreliable sources were addressed by mods anyway, and in most cases they still are. Iir, the mediabias & having good sources are still covered by community rules, with some room for interpretation ofcourse.

I'm just interested in having a conversation about this ( to me relevant)topic, and how mods and involved posters were handling it.

Basically, I was comforted by the first comment, the one describing that seemingly, the whole world is having a hard time "dealing with it".

Personally, I find myself reluctant to simply just post any sensationalist post, which would only lead to more polarisation, regardless the media outlet. On the otherhand, some news while still polarising could add to new relevant pov or offer new information. That's how I probably will handle it. Any other insights are most welcome.

And in light of OP's question. To me "they" are all the authoritarians; both the extreme left and right winged.

If America is going to continue to be not Trump, it's going to have to move fast.

So far, their checks & balances have been failing, unfortunately. Something about corruption in DOJ in recent news, leaves me very worried about the last Pillar. I hope the US citizens from both parties make it a democracy again: by the people for the people.
