  • I'd like to go ahead and forestall the inevitable RAWR RAWR RAWR TEACHING CHILDREN ABOUT GENDER SEXUALIZES THEM THIS IS FAR TOO EARLY.

I'm trans. I figured it out for myself around fifth grade. I had little context or support besides what I could find on a very young internet, and that has made my life harder and reduced the quality of it. While I'm glad I found what I did, it's not a substitute for proper instruction on the matter, nor proper treatment assistance instead of "impromptu at-home surgery attempts". Many people figure things out younger than I did. You aren't doing kids any favors by hiding this knowledge from them, you're only hurting trans kids. And if that's what you want, well, I think that's pretty fucked, but at least say it with your fuckin' chest. Don't hide behind lies about wanting to keep kids safe, because what you're doing is the opposite of that.

  • @foresight what if my partner and I just don't want kids? Even if we're economically secure? Are we not allowed to fuck because it offends your sensibilities? Because, uh, no. Don't like abortion? Don't have an abortion. I'm all for reducing the number by economic and social improvements, but there are cases where a woman does not for whatever reason want to grow another human inside of her body and that's her right.

  • @greyscale it was too good not to share.

  • Thanks for doing the digging on the very same suspicion I had. It's kind of amazing how reliable a tell this tone is.

    State's rights to do what?

  • Sorry, can you unpack this a little? Per the article existing librarians are being transferred or dismissed, did you mean in the larger community?

  • It was being talked about in newspapers a century ago. The fossil fuels companies have known for a very long time, and have been suppressing it for a very long time, hiring many of the same people involved in suppressing evidence that tobacco causes cancer. We should be torches and pitchforks in the street livid.

  • I didn't come here to get called out like this.
