He's not wrong. Groupthink elevates the most extreme rhetoric, and when people hear that, they disregard the totally valid argument as a whole.

If one person is saying "Hey, this could be bad for our coral reefs, polar bear populations, may cause more hurricanes over time, etc." they're going to be completely drowned out by the person saying "THIS IS THE END OF MODERN SOCIETY!" (paraphrased from an upvoted comment under this post)

Now stack a game genie on top of that, like some cursed totem pole.

Yeah, this is the fediverse's way of telling us to break our old habit of piling on a single site and to spread out.

I have accounts on a few instances, and lemm.ee is the quickest and most stable of them all. I don't know what they're doing, but it's great.

I'm not who you're replying to, but I have accounts on a handful of instances for this very reason. Sometimes things go down or get laggy, and I just hop to a different instance.

It's a strength of the fediverse.

This confused me too, but it's choosing which account you're using, not where you're searching. Your search is still across instances.
