I guarantee you if people found out that you were trying to operate on yourself in your home, someone is going ro rightfully try to stop you.

Innocent until proven otherwise is a concept for criminal court.

We aren't putting someone in jail, we are looking at their past business practices and deciding not to do business with them based on their obvious habits.

Also, anthropologists, archaeologists, and historians all use objects from time periods for research. Museums have things on display for context.
