  • I feel the same. For me, anything over 10 minutes and I speed it up to 1.5 speed. I barely notice and saved roughly 20 min off of it. This is also continued so it seems like there will be like 3 or more videos covering various subjects.

  • My kid has come across his videos several times, the algorithm absolutely pushes his stuff to kids. I haven't known about him for very long, but he does create some interesting videos. Never watched any that were giveaways or stuff but I have seen some of the contest and destination ones. They were obviously edited videos, but it's a shame to also hear the games and people used are all setup as well. Guess we're about to add another horrible YT personality to the canceled list?

  • I doubt social security would matter. My parents have been talking about it for 30 years now that they will never see it and how much of a waste it is. The defense would be, I have been hearing that all my life and it hasn't happened yet.

  • The bigger shocker to me is that the platform still exists at all... didn't the largest advertisers pull out? I thought it was hemeraging money. I keep waiting for them to pull the plug on it, or at least sell it at a huge discounted price.

  • Servers would probably be way easier than workstations if you ask me. If they were virtual, just bring up the remote console and you can do it all remotely. Even if they were physical I would hope they have an IP KVM attached to each server so they can also remotely access them as well. 450 sucks but at least they theoretically could have done every one of them without going anywhere.

There are also options to do workstations as well, but almost nobody ever uses those services so those probably need to be touched one by one.

  • Boiling a whole chicken is pretty good as long as you season the hell out of it as well as the water. It then creates the stock for other recipes such as the things I'm making out of that boiled chicken, like chicken pot pie, chicken soup, and chicken tacos to name a few.

  • I am thrilled right now that our company only started relying on cloud resources a few years ago and still don't use services like this... I hope this is a wake-up call to them, so we never use something like this. I know the execs finally realized the cloud is not cost effective, and I hope we keep it a mixed bag instead of going in fully. I have been in IT for 18 years now, and thankfully, I have never had to deal with a disaster like this. Another close call was outsourcing our IT service desk to a company, and they wanted us to put agents on our pc's so they could do their job easier. Luckily, our network team said absolutely not. Sure enough, that same year at Christmas time, they got hit with a crypto attack, and instead of having to deal with the agents, we just shut down the tunnel, and we're fine. A lot of their clients were not so lucky. Screw the cloud and 3rd party services... it doesn't save what you think, and you get poor services in return a lot of the time.

  • Nooooo!

The best line I have actually heard multiple times whenever a change is made by my company is "we are changing so and so service to this to better align ourselves with industry standards." And guess what, those standards are always worse for us. Never once seen this where it's been a positive. I guess it's ok to do if everyone else does it!

  • I used to use Subsonic, but it's become too outdated for me sadly. I switched to a fork Navidrome which updates a few times a year and enjoy the improvements it's been providing. I use it with the mobile app Symfonium and love that they are both improving the API to add additional features and options over what Subsonic offered. I run it on my Synology in Docker so you should have no issues either.
