  • Any outlet that has far, far more criticism of America giving weapons to Ukraine so they can defend their country than it does Russia for launching a war of imperial conquest intended to erase Ukraine and its culture reveals exactly what it actually is. And it's sure as hell not "antiwar"

  • It's just weird when it's employees standing up against management on behalf of a rich scumbag scammer.

  • I and many millions of others are better off financially now under Biden than we were under Trump's stagnation and then recession economy. But maybe personal financial anecdotes aren't the best way to judge presidential competency.

  • Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.

    Scandal incoming?

  • He's. Not. Speaking. For. Himself. He's reading a statement that was crafted by a team of people and approved by another team of people because he's speaking for the administration. "The White House" isn't referring a building in this context, it's a metonymy for the Biden Administration as an institution.

We desperately need media literacy education.

  • What’s wrong with Andrew Bates criticizing Elon Musk.

Because White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates is not speaking for himself, he's speaking for the institution of the White House as part of his job. Your rant is totally out of place here.

  • America is distracted

Ah, being America; you're the bad guy when you interfere in other countries and you're also the bad guy when you don't interfere in other countries. The same people criticizing America for not doing anything today will turn around and start criticizing America for what they did, no matter what it was, if they get involved tomorrow. Everything you touch is your fault and everything you don't touch is also your fault.

Maybe, just maybe, America shouldn't be expected to insert itself into a Sudanese civil war. Maybe, just maybe, Middle Eastern and African powers should come together to deal with humanitarian crises in their own region and America should be, at most, a partner providing assistance only if and when requested.

  • "Old woman moralizes at cloud"

Those 'good old days' she harkens back to weren't so good for a lot of people who didn't look like her or live in her neighborhood. She and her ilk are concerned about the veneer of civility, of the performative politeness that people used to have to show to the privileged in our society; not being a better society, but maintaining for the privileged the illusion they're part of a better society.

  • The big difference being that the South was actually part of the United States of America while Taiwan has never been ruled by the People's Republic of China. A civil war isn't the same thing as imperial conquest.
