I don't know if this will actually pan out the way that they imply in the title; armor needs to have a lot of different characteristics in order to be practical. As in, resistance to heat and cold, resistance to acids, alkalines, petroleum distillates, salts, UV, and oxygen, and also resist deformation. Multiple materials have displays significant promise for armor, but had a very short lifespan in real-word conditions. For instance, there was a material trademarked as Zylon that was supposed to be better than Kevlar, and it was used extensively by Second Chance (a body armor company); several cops were killed when their armor failed, and the armor failed because of exposure to sweat and ambient heat.

Yeah, this is a super cool development, but remember that everything that comes out at this stage is hype.

I agree; the game itself is very enjoyable. But DA largely felt darker than this game does. And the animations are... Unpleasantly cartoonish. Again: it's fun. It just doesn't fit.

Neither of the people in those photos need glasses. Or, those glasses have plano lenses; there's no distortion at the edges.

Large frames like those require very hiugh index lenses, because otherwise your lenses get really thick at the edges. My prescription is fairly bad, and I need 1.67 index to avoid stupidly heavy lenses.

Also, frames without nose pads don't usually stay put on your face. I find them very uncomfortable, esp. since I have to wear glasses for everything.

Ironic that they claim all of their decisions are backed by data, but still employ corporal punishment. That's something that had been quite definitively demonstrated to be far less effective than other measures.

Just be warned that not all bacteria and parasites can be killed with a hard (0F) freeze. IIRC, there are a few parasites found in feral pigs and bear that are very freeze resistant. I think some variety of trichinella? I don't think that poultry is susceptible to trichinella infestations, but most chickens aren't kept or slaughtered in very sanitary conditions.

You can safely cook chicken to be medium rare, buuuuuuuuut only via sous vide. You would need to get it up to at least 140F, and then keep it there for between 30 and 360 minutes, depending on how thick the piece of chicken is.

Personally, I would not want to. I enjoy beef carpaccio and steak tartare, i enjoy some sushi and sashimi, but poultry and pork, IMO, should be cooked.

Just FYI, you can't buy a firearm at a dealer outside of your home state without having it shipped to an FFL holder in your home state. E.g., I can't drive to Family Firearms in Alabama from Georgia--where i live--to buy a gun. I have to order from them, and then have it shipped to an FFL near me, and then fill out the paperwork in my own state. In states that allow private, p2p sales (which is most of them), you could buy a firearm with cash from an individual, and they'd never do a background check or fill out a 4473.

The fact that someone has worked for the gov't in the past does not prove in any way, shape, or form, that a particular company is controlled by the gov't. My ex-spouse used to work for the US State Dept, and now is an accountant at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd; does that mean that Deloitte is a US gov't asset? I have an uncle that was in the diplomatic corps, and now owns his own business; is his business directly controlled by the US gov't too?

Roughly 3M people are directly employed by the US fed. gov't at any given time, in a national of roughly 345M people. So no, it's not that unexpected that someone with high level management experience would also end up working as a high-level manager at corporation after they left gov't service. (And why would someone leave the gov't? Because when you compare pay rates for comparable levels of responsibility, the gov't always comes out far behind.)

This is basic media literacy stuff.

I've frequently noted that you tend to get a very one sided answer when you ask, for instance, Mormons about Mormonism. Likewise, I wouldn't expect a balanced and fair assessment of hexbear by asking hexbear mods and users.

I could make any number of bullshit claims, like, say, Nazis built a moon base shortly before the end of WWII, and the inability of the allies to find Hitler's body proves that he didn't commit suicide in a bunker in Berlin, and you would quite rightly insist that I give you a lot of solid evidence. The article does none of that.

First: as someone with a strong evangelical Christian background, I can sympathize with discussions about sex--and specifically about your sex life--being deeply uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that's something that you're going to have to discuss with any potential romantic partner, and sooner rather than later. (Because let me tell you, significant differences in sex drive and desire will tank every and any relationship).

Second: Drinks are not necessarily a commitment to anything more. I would prefer coffee (or tea) as a first date since it's even lower pressure, but many people prefer alcohol because it's a social lubricant. Your call there. My suggestion would be to start by getting to know the person. I'm autistic (seriously), and IMO the most honest approach is to be direct, despite how hard it is when you want to please people. Yes, being a people pleaser means that you're going to want to tell her what you think she wants to hear, rather than what you really feel, and that will bite you in the ass, repeatedly. And yeah, anxiety and things like rejection sensitive dysphoria are going to make that exceptionally hard.

Third: you said that she was a ride to a meeting; can you elaborate on what kind of meeting? I'm asking because if this is someone that you're going to have to see in a professional setting, you do need to proceed very carefully. Workplace relationships--or relationship rejections--can be very fraught.

Last: I'm not as immediately opposed to age gaps in relationships as some people. I do generally think that the (n/2)+7 rule is a decent rule of thumb, but it's not an absolute. The reason that rule generally exists, IMO, is that people in different generations have different cultural markers, things that were significant in the formation of their personality and worldview, and large differences there can make relationships more challenging. E.g., if you remember 11 September '01 and the political fallout, while she grew up fully immersed in the prevailing political climate, then it might be hard to see eye to eye on some things. There can also be imbalances of maturity and power that can result from larger age differences, e.g., you might be much more set both professionally and financially, which could make the relationship less equal. So it's something to be aware of and careful about.

God no. Quite the opposite. SSRIs tend to seriously blunt sexual response. The most common effect is sharply delayed orgasms, but it can cause near total anorgasmia, and/or difficultly with sexual arousal at all. Sexual dysfunction and weight gain are the two most common side effects of SSRIs.

There's no reasonable way for a single person to point out every single flaw in a conspiratorial website. The whole article is a gish-gallop; so much misinformation that even if I disproved 90% of the primary points, people would still latch on to the 10% that I hadn't had time to disprove, and say, see?, they were right! (That's assuming that they even accept counterclaims as being sufficient in the first place.)

Paying attention to your sources and not using bad ones is one of the first, most basic principles of media literacy. Failing to adhere to this basic principle is precisely how you get Q-anon.
